- There were some posts about it on August13. Doubt if it will be
- tremendously better from 350 or 350DL.For some reason PRC is not
- exporting decent radios ,though they are quite advanced and capable

Um, ah, no ah ... SSB mode that can be seen?

From the Universal Radio link above:

Additionally there is an AM IF Output jack (F type). This is available for possible
future accessory devices such as DRM or SSB decoders.

No SSB - That's definitely a deal killer.

Ok, I admit it; I am just trying to pump and dump my Grundig stock...

What would a "future" ssb decoder look like? I've never seen an "outboard" ssb decoder. Would this be something new or does something like this exist now?

I haven't either, but I would guess it would essentially have to be an almost-complete SSB receiver, without the front-end that drops the signal down to the IF frequency. It would probably be as expensive as the radio, unless there was a way to do it using software.

I think it's a device that lets you tune in radio broadcasts that haven't happened yet.

Does anyone know where I can log my reception report of next week's WEAK show?  I'm going to have really great reception for that one.

Hi,

My first message here.

The new grundig S450DLX is not a new version of the S350. The S350 was a Tecsun, the new S450 is a Redsun. Exactly a Redsun RP2000 or RP2100, the version with memories I think, but in new habits. Seen elsewhere : not only the case is new, but there is a better loudspeaker than in the Redsun. But all radio specs are the same.

For the SSB decoder, I remember an accessory named TG37, seen on the Internet. I think this is no more than an external BFO. But it was with phono (RCA) plugs, and the S450 has F-type sockets on the rear side.

So, you'd better think to use the 455 kHz output with a downconverter to 12 kHz, and then to a PC soundcard: that's a very cheap SDR (with free software decoder of course).

I don't understand why this "new" model is late. Maybe too much S350 still in stock ?
