Title: UNID Italian Language 4620 kHz USB 0300 UTC 24 August 2017
Post by: R4002 on August 24, 2017, 0311 UTC
After doing some scanning of the 6-7 MHz region, I decided to go down to 3-6 MHz and see what I could find.  The 6 MHz aeronautical band and the 6 MHz marine frequencies were relatively active but only with legit traffic.

I've noted Italian traffic on 4630 kHz USB in the past, but I don't think I've logged 4620 before.  These guys sound like the group previously heard on 4630 kHz USB...lots and lots of radar SWOOP SWOOP SWOOP SWOOP (I think its radar) QRM making copy really painful at points.  OTH radar (or whatever this QRM is) is all over the 4-5 MHz region.

SIO 211 considering the heavy QRM

0327-UTC - Hearing the Italian OM conversing but the signals are S5 at best. The radar or whatever the noise interference is gone. This is the first time I have heard them on 4620, in the past I logged them on 4630 kHz.

0335 UTC - Not hearing them anymore.

I'm still hearing the radar pulses on my end :(

Both 4620 kHz USB and 4630 kHz USB are both quiet now (0345 UTC).  Since you heard the Italians on 4630 USB earlier as well, I think its safe to say that we were probably hearing the same group of stations only moved down 10 kHz from 4630 kHz to 4620 kHz.

Yes, probably the same group from 4630. Picking up the radar again. I can see it sweeping from 4610 down to 4510 kHz on the SDR Panadapter.
