The HFU will be upgrading servers and software in the next week. Really. This time for sure.
You can test drive it here: http://www.hfunderpants.com/board/index.php
Note, that is a copy of the real website, taken this morning. Feel free to post on the site, send messages, delete stuff, whatever. It's just a copy, and will disappear when we make the real move. I should have the Wiki working shortly there as well. Eventually the 30 Below blog, the last post was from March 2016, so maybe I am not in a hurry?
The actual HFU site URL will stay the same after the move, and ideally there will be no glitches (haha, famous last words). Downtime should be minimal, I hope an hour or two, and will try to do it one weekday morning. I was going to do it Saturday night at 9 PM when Wolverine was on, but someone told me that would be a bad idea.
-
Could always ask Pedro if he has a backup server you can use during the migration.
-
FYI: The HFU Wiki is locked for no more edits, until after the server move.
-
I'm targeting tomorrow, Wednesday, at 1300z for the server move. The test moves of the message board, wiki, and 30 Below blog went OK. As of now, Tapatalk will NOT be implemented on the new server. It's a horrible mess, even by open sores standards.
Cross your fingers ;D

Are we there yet?

I think we are!

So far so good...

So far so good...
There's a distinct lack of Squid. I will rectify that later today.

Looks good here.
Been under the weather with a cracked molar and infected jaw while awaiting extraction, and was a little confused when I first tuned in to HFU this AM.
Pain killers will do that, I guess.

Ouch! Hopefully they can quickly address that. Hopefully on some good antibiotics as well?

Yes; I am on a new antibiotic distilled from squid blood.

Now you can pick up WABC on your filling. But only if you're inside the A&P supermarket.

I like the new HFU layout! ;D

Looking good. However, there are a couple of issues right off the bat.
One, the ad for the squid was covering up the login fields. I was able to input so they weren't hidden, just seems to be displaying in the wrong area.
Two, it wouldn't let me login with my memorized password the first time. I would always get that if I had had the home page up but the computer had gone to sleep since my last login (this happened with every platform and in every browser, but wasn't anything to complain about), but it's going to be a pain if this happens when I visit the page for the first time after launching the browser.
EDIT: Three, where are our stars ? ? ? ? :'(
Thanks for all the work you put into this forum, Chris. It's a truly valuable place.

Yeah, I need to work on that still. I shrunk the squid, hopefully that helps.

That should be a one time thing. There is a setting when you long in, how long you want to stay logged in, be sure to set that to forever. Otherwise, it's up to your browser to store your account info (name, pwd) for auto logging into websites.

They seem to be inside those boxes by our names ::)
And yes, if anyone sees anything that seems to be working incorrectly, please let me know so I can fix it. Also, as this is an updated version of the forum software (actually written in this decade) it's going to have more features and settings than before. So it may be a case of tweaking the settings to get the behavior we want. Maybe we make this the bug report / feature thread while we sort out the changes.

I'll let you know if I have any issues with that ongoing. I have always set the setting to "forever" with the previous version, but the common experience was that login would not be successful if the PC had gone to sleep while the browser was running since the previous login, and as noted that happened despite the browser or the platform. (If I quit the browser before it slept and relaunched it after, there was no issue, but I have my browser clear its history and cookies upon quit.)

YIKES! Propogation page wiped out!
I was using that...

YIKES indeed! I completely forgot about that. I probably would have remembered when I wanted to look at it ;D
OK, getting that back up again, thanks for reminding me, John!

You might want to add this site on there when you get a chance (or the map if there's a way to link to it). I've found this f0F2 map very useful when the various graphs were down-- like most of them right now:
http://www.sws.bom.gov.au/HF_Systems/6/5
Yeah, I had it saved on a browser link since I go there so often...
-
Good idea, I also added the T Index map.

Ha! I beat Fansome!

Ha! I beat Fansome!
His computer is probably trying to get to the old site. Those C-64s...
-
I can hear Fansome now -
"Dammit, the tape is jammed again!"

Looks really good....great job Chris! 8)

Thank for catching that, he's back.
Anything else missing?

Hi Chris!
I like the new lay-out also!
Question > Is it an idea to make it possible to post MP3 's (or other extensions)
of "RX-Recordings" direct in topic(s)?

Nice but can I have the log in back on the front page like it used to be?
-
Back in the days when Men were Men, and Giants walked the earth, the FRN had a failure that shut it down. In an attempt to fill the gap, someone set up a similar site, trying to continue the FRN tradition.
Someone else saw this as an opportunity, and registered with this new site as "Commander Bunny", before the "real thing" had a chance. The "real thing" was apoplectic when it found that it couldn't use this identity, and raged many accusations, all wrong.
Not long after, the FRN was restored, and, of course, the FRN is no longer an important part of Pirate Radio. Still, the mystery persists.

There should be a login in the upper left corner of the window.

You forgot, "And goats were nervous." after mentioning men and giants.
I wonder what happened to those silly rabbits? I know one is still around despite being diagnosed with "terminal inoperable and untreatable cancer" and given mere weeks to live over a dozen years ago. Perhaps the nearby Edgar Cayce Center in Virginia Beach dreamed him up a cure? Or maybe Pat "Hurricane" Robertson laid hands on the afflicted area? I guess we'll never know?
You and your perplexing philosophical questions are what make this site great, Al. It's why I came here when the old FRN admin gave you the boot. I told them, "No Fansome, no Pigmeat." and left. The place collapsed shortly after and this board has thrived. Let's face it, we're Pirate Radio Gods, Al.

The bunny wasn't funny anway.

Better late than never...
Chris,
I really like the new look of HFU. Thanks for the work on the upgrade.
