6900 kHz 6.900 MHz LSB mode
Our friends on 6900 LSB are back in action! 6900 kHz LSB (6.900 MHz LSB) is the primary frequency for the Americas for "freebanders" or "outbanders" operating below the bottom edge of the 40 meter amateur band. The 6700 to 7000 kHz frequency range is commonly known as "43 meters". Right now (0109 UTC) there is a very strong (S5-S6) signal in Spanish language booming, sounds like the de facto net control station. Roundtable ragchew net informal rag chew net 6900 kHz 6.900 MHz with stations checking in to the net, giving comments and signal reports...then joining the informal conversation.
6900 kHz is heard almost nightly. Sometimes 6900 kHz LSB and 6900 kHz USB are heard at the same time. Stations will QSY plus or minus 5 kHz to 6895 kHz, 6905 kHz, etc, after establishing initial contact on 6900 kHz LSB. It's functional equivalent is 27.555 MHz USB 27555 kHz USB for the 11 meter band.
