Title: HLW 22.611.5MHz CW Telecom Korea...off air?
Post by: Looking-Glass on November 04, 2017, 0630 UTC
Has any one heard HLW the Telecom Korea marine station marker on 22.611.5MHz CW with 3Kw transmitter near Seoul of recent?

I know the high band propagation has not been good but today I was hearing Japanese marine traffic on 22MHz CW  (JFW Iwaki, JFX Kagoshima & JFG Shizouka)between 519 and 539 reports.

So the band was open to Asia and with South Korea being close to Japan one would think HLW would have been audible as the Japanese marine stations run around 1Kw compared to HLW with 3Kw to a log periodic antenna.

I have not heard HLW on 22MHz for many weeks as I used to use it's signal as a propagation marker/indicator for an Asian path.

Perhaps it has been "retired"? The 8MHz Telecom Korea stations are still on air.  Any comments or observations please?
