Title: Radio Biafra 11530 AM 1926 UTC 12 Nov 2017
Post by: ChrisSmolinski on November 12, 2017, 1930 UTC
I stumbled upon this while checking out the 25 meter band. Clear ID by a man in EE, then into another language. Very strong signal, SIO 555. I wonder who is relaying this?
1932 An ID by a YL, announced 7240 and 11530 as the frequencies from 6 AM to 7 AM, and 11530 from 8 PM to 9 PM, and said broadcasting from London. They also gave a number for text messages.
Said they had a special announcement - someone was dismissed from the movement.
2000 WRMI ID off, so that answers my question  ;D

Since the times seem to be in local Nigeria time, we can presume that the 7240 AM broadcast will be on at 0500 UTC.

I tuned in to 7420 at 0500 last night. There was nothing there at the time, but a carrier eventually appeared. I'm going to guess that the relay was coming from somewhere in Europe. I couldn't find any more info. Even WRMI's site doesn't have the 11530/1900 broadcast on their schedule yet. (Side note, both transmitter #3 and transmitter #10 are listed as being 11530 kHz and 160° azimuth. Why would they need two transmitters with the same frequency and azimuth? And presumably the same power, too?)

Anyway, it's back on today (13 NOV at 1900). I caught the end of the WRMI announcement and the very beginning of Radio Biafra's show.

Much info & discussion in DXLD 17-46 about this fake Radio Biafra:

Also this from DXLD yg:

- - - - - posted Nov 20:

"> Tonight, the signal is VERY STRONG in Twente [S9 +30 or close to],
 > female announcer reading frequencies, 7240 in 41mB and 11530 in 25mB.
[Thorsten]

At a quick check this seems so far to be the only content of this stunt: These
frequency announcements for "Radio Biafra, broadcasting from London",
alternating in presumed Igbo and heavily accented, in fact broken English.
Of course (and indeed!) not the real Radio Biafra which can be heard, right
now with a phone conversation in usual style,
via http://app.tvipob.co:1935/radio/Radio1/playlist.m3u8

And indeed 9580, which gets a quite crappy feed, is very strong. Definitely
no transmitter in the western hemisphere, as an often quoted source speculates.

> 11580 seems to be Bruder Treppe [Thorsten]

Who for its part is much, much stronger on 11600, registered as Kostinbrod
which would have to use the webstream in case MX1 (his eastern hemisphere
uplinker, now a subsidiary of SES) pulls really the plug on him.
