For the past few days I have been listening to a signal up on 8000.350 khz...I admit it is very weak but I have
been able to time it right at 60 dashes per minute...
I have named it "Mini" based on the fact is is very weak...
I have it at 2215 utc currently.
-
Heard briefly this morning around 1415z when it faded in for a minute or so. It was fairly strong, then gone again.
Hah and as I type this, just heard one strong beep. Perhaps the op is testing it?
-
Saw your post...so thought I would give Mini a try...fad ups now and then a dash or two at 1530 utc
-
Just starting to hear Mini fad up 2340 utc
-
I now understand that Mini only has an output of 5 to 10 MW...
no wonder it was so weak...none the less a great dx catch.
-
Dec 22 1800utc some really nice fade ups...
-
The three days I was down in Tucson mid Jan. I was able to copy Mini almost every time I listened for it on my
friends Doty Low Noise antenna. That is what got me to build one of those antennas when I got back to Colorado.
4 mw is nothing to make fun of from a listening point of view.

Jan 30, 1430utc...8000.350 khz starting to hear a few fade ups...
-
Feb 3 time 1515Utc Mini 4 mw signal fading up out of the ether...
always fun to catch Mini.
Doty LN antenna 9:1 transformer 45ft long 7ft above the earth
-
Feb 5 Time caught Mini fading up on occasion around dawn and even at 1430 utc some good fade ups.
My success with the 4 mw beacon is attributed to my Low Noise Doty 9:1 transformer 45 ft antenna.
The antenna runs North and is 7 ft above the ground. Quite as can be.
Maybe some day I'll hear the Marian ditter as well.
-
I goggled for this miracle doty antenna and came up nada.
-
Perhaps your read a few of Dotys writing and learn something. I hope this helps.

First heard this one today quite by accident, had been going thru the memories on the radio. First heard around 2330 on the 5th so setup argo and of course it was gone. So stuck around and it started to fade up again starting around 0002 utc. This is a tough one with the noise I have here in the 8 Mhz range. Will attempt to add an argo capture and the dasher is at the 600 Hz line if it works.

Here is a better Argo Capture from this afternoon.
-
Mark,
So far I think you and I are the only ones that have heard Mini...your last capture
was sure a good one. When down in AZ a couple weeks ago my friend had a Doty low noise antenna
and we heard it quite often down in Tuscon. That is what inspired me to make a LN antenna for my own.
Since then I have heard Mini often...the Marian Ditter would be a neat weak signal to hear.

-
April 28
Time 2050 utc...solid copy 8000.310khz 1 dash per second
-
April 30,
Mini has a new crystal and the Freq. is 7955.5 khz.
The owner of the beacon communicated through a third party
and asked me to put its new freq. up on HFU. Its power is 4 mw
and sometimes less when the battery voltage drops.
Often the battery cannot be restored quickly after it drops
below 6 volts...thats why it is off the air for days on end.
At this writing I'm hearing Mini on its new freq. on occasional fade ups.
Mini is a dx challenge...Listeners with s9 noise floors are never going to hear it.
I don't know where it is located.
