Monday night at approximately 5:20 PM I logged "Radio Torrente de Vida" on 1690 KHz. Hadn't heard this one before. This station apparently operates from a church in Lynn, Massachusetts. It is fairly representative of one of the multitude of ethnic pirates that operate in the Boston area. I caught it from about 2.5 miles away from their claimed location, using my car radio while waiting in the parking lot of a train station. The station was playing Spanish language pop music with occasional identifications. Decent signal, but I suspect that this station probably does not run a lot of power and is probably only audible in a very local area.
The station currently has a web site here (in Spanish): http://www.radiotorrente.com/

Well, approaching 2 years after my original post, this station continues to be active. Logged this afternoon at 1944 UTC on its usual frequency of 1690 KHz and with a positive ID (in Spanish). It sounds like it is operated off of a computer playlist. Music is Spanish ballads. Logged this one from the home shack using the IC-7410 and an 80 meter dipole.

Interesting. Doubt I'll hear it this way. But I'll keep my ear open.

Approaching yet another year later and this operation is still active. Noted at 1819 UTC on 7/28/2013. They have cleaned up their audio, somewhat.

1690 is audible all day at S-9 level with Christian praise tunes out at the island in Salem MA harbor. Audio pretty respectable as well

There's a Perseus server in Boston. I'll have to try it during the day if on and see if I can copy some of these stations.
