Unknown language, and there are no scheduled broadcasts for either this frequency or a more logical adjacent one like 11585 or 11590. Confirmed that it's being received elsewhere via online SDR's in New Jersey, New Hampshire, and The Netherlands. I suspect Denge Kurdistane, which I believe has been transmitting at 11600 at this time of day recently, despite not being on the schedule. There is nothing currently at that frequency.

Sound of Hope Radio Int'l perhaps but the lingo doesn't seem right. Maybe a utility BX of some type?
Not Denge Kurdistan this time of year I wouldn't think.
That's a mystery for sure.

The station is back today 13 FEB, 16:13 UTC, but has QSY'd to 11588.

Hi !
Might be Radio OMN (Oromia Media Network). Language sounds Eastern African. I heard them on Sunday on 11600 kHz with good signal in Austria, but with Ethiopian noise jammer in the background. When checked today I couldnīt hear any signal from them neither on 11600 nor on known alternate frequency 11575 kHz. But I didnīt checked the frequencies in between.

You may be correct however my info shows them 1500z-1600z only and only M-F.
Agree it sounds eastern African in dialect. Strange...

Was fine tuning a boat anchor the other day and caught some of the 11587 bc. Checked the 100kc calibrator to make sure I was zero beat on 11587 and yes it was 11587 in an eastern African dialect. No jamming heard. Not too shabby a signal into Indiana.

Today February 14, it's on 11575. I was tuned in a little earlier (at 1605) and it was in English for a while, two OM talking about the use of solitary confinement in California prisons, when it switched to music. YL seemed to give a station ID but I couldn't catch it, and unfortunately was not recording. So I will plan to set my recorder for tomorrow and see if it broadcasts then. (I have it recording now, perhaps there will be another ID.)
EDIT: There IS a scheduled transmission for M=F 1600-1700, Radio OMN in the Oromo language, Tx from Spaceline in Bulgaria. This might have been it all along. I'm certain that there was nothing on 11575 on the 12th or 13th February.

What frequency 16-17z?
Today it was 11575. Funny, I now see that it's listed for both 11575 and 11600 from Spaceline, 1600-1700. Trying to avoid jamming?

Thx - please post your logs of this - FPE

OMN (jammed) being reported *1600z on11575khz but not 11600khz - Perhaps they are jumping around to avoid jamming from Ethiopia.

This thread is pretty much it. Aside from that weird bit in English that had nothing to do with Ethiopia or Africa, it's been OM speaking presumed Oromo. Is this station considered to be a clandestine?
-
Yes and my understanding is that the English was indeed OMN shaking the jammers because by 1609z the jammers left & the BX switched to regular OMN BX. Nice.

Donīt think that this was made by intention. Spaceline is well known for putting the wrong programme on air - that happend often in the past and have been regularly reported by a former Radio Bulgaria engineer in his logs at: http://swldxbulgaria.blogspot.com/
throughout the past years.
