Title: ICOMPROM ICOM Non-Volatile RAM Module for (older) Icom receivers
Post by: ETM71 on January 07, 2011, 0327 UTC
Anyone ever install one of these from Piexx? Any problems? It's a replacement RAM board that doesn't croak if it looses power (3V button cell). I've read great reviews but I've just sent one back for them to re-checkout. Installed it in a IC-R71A but it just wasn't working out. I'd rather not have to send the orig. board to Icom. Anyone?

Did you set the jumpers correctly?
That board does work in the 71a but it comes jumper-ed for another radio!
Double check!

Yeah. Documentation said that all four should be open for the R71A. They supposedly set them (open) before sending it to me and it does look like there's no connection across each one. They've been really patient and helpful with the problem and I'm sure it'll work out cool. Meanwhile, the old Icom sleeps.
