Title: 15555 LSB...why?
Post by: [tRMZ] on May 07, 2018, 1429 UTC
Okay it's 14:26z and here I am listening to this preacher guy on 15555 KHz LSB.

Why? Why does this station broadcast on SSB? He's an evangelist...why would he evangelize only on SSB? Seems like he's limiting his audience

USB, I think you mean? If they were in LSB, that's worth noting because WJHR is supposed to be in USB.

I have no answer for "why." I'm just remarking because of the report that they were in LSB.

There's reduced utility bill from going ssb, for one.

I'll check on him again and tell ya for sure but it's perfectly likely I made a mistake even tho I do write everything down but anyhow I hear this guy all the damn time I guess what puzzles me is why this dude would be on SSB at all cuz his evangelism  would reach more ppl if he were...like the other AM evangelists not SSB. He could maximize his evangelism if he switched to AM

Isn't the 11th commandment "Thou Shalt Not Evangelize on Lower Sideband"?

It's 20:43z and I'm hearing this station. The station is WJHR? And yes sir, it is USB. It's such a strong signal here that it sounds very good on LSB when I have the bandwidth set WIDE, which is the reason for my mistake. Thanx.

I just think it's weird!

They've been doing it for years, at least a decade, if not longer.

At one time there was some air traffic that began in that part of the band. The first few times I heard WJHR up there is was a real "WTH" moment, "Why are pilots ranting about religion?". Then I was sure it was an unstable harmonic. Nope. One day I'm on a radio newsgroup and there it is, "WJHR 15555 USB". I felt like more of dolt than usual.

LOL yes that is hilarious when you have one of those 'WTH moments' on SW. I'm pretty new to radio; when I got a •Kaito• I was having fun scanning...and I came upon an odd station. I kept listening trying to figure what the heck.
I thot, "wow! ...are these African farm animals?" cuz it sounded like chickens and hyenas and hippopotamuses...sounded like a shamanic animal sacrifice.

But it was just ppl speaking in tongues. Man I thot they were zebras

I've been waiting for 9 months for the coveted JHR qsl.   This time I'm putting in a bible verse to get some leverage over the average heathen e mail.

Be sure to include $500 and a prayer for whatever it was they were preaching when you tuned in. You'll be put on a mailing list at the very least.
