I have been stumbling across some wideband transmissions for a while which are quite strong in Eastern Ontario
Just a while ago, 12185kHz was active, went off the air 2018-07-14 15:45 UTC
About 25kHz from edge to edge
Reminds of some of the OTHR like 29B6 Kontayner OTH Radar: https://www.sigidwiki.com/wiki/29B6_%27Kontayner%27_OTH_Radar (https://www.sigidwiki.com/wiki/29B6_%27Kontayner%27_OTH_Radar) but doesn' quite look the same on the waterfall but then again I am not that familiar with identifying this particular signal.
I attempted to use the KiwiSDR TDoA capability and my feeble attempt seems to indicate a location somewhere in middle USA, coincidentally near lower Lake Michigan and the suspected location of the UNID 1 PPS pip/tick/time signal.

I have not yet mastered the fine art of linked images to postings on hfunderground so for now I will only provide a link to a folder on dropbox, file names should be intuitive enough.

similar signal now active on 14880 kHz
KiwiSDR TDoA puts it right around Chicago

I believe it's the same signal I posted here recently: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,43974.0.html
I had a feeling it was related to the weird pip...

This wideband data has been around for a while, but has become more common in the last 9 months. There are several Experimental Licenses that match the approximate modes and frequencies normally seen.
WIXNX IL
WH2XVO IL, NJ, AK
WI2XWV IL
WI2XER NY
WI2XXG NY, IL
WI2XAJ NY, IL, WA
Note that a few of these are ones people have tried to tie to the Time Tick Pips (TTPs).
None of these licenses cover the modes or frequencies displayed by the TTPs. I have said a few times I doubt that the TTPs and the High Frequency Trader (HFT) tests are related, and I think this might be a further indication. There is some indication this wideband data might indeed be the HFT testing, at least it is believable it might be related. Generally we don't see the TTPs in the same frequencies we see the wideband data. If the TTPs were related, and were the results of the experimental trying to define propagation or discover any little advantage to propagation, why don't they also do that on freqs they are known to use?
Just my take on it.
