Title: 6940.6 KHZ
Post by: Edgar Souse on July 18, 2018, 0054 UTC
0045 UTC hearing a very faint, irregular "dit" in CW mode around 6940.6. I'm not really familiar with pirate beacons, but I know there is a fair amount of pirate SSB activity in this area.

"Irregular dit" and 6940.6 kHz may be describing the Link 11 on 6940 kHz DSB.

Link 11 has a 605 Hz Doppler tone, if you tune to only it, and not the rest of the Link 11 signal, it will sound like an irregular dit, and the dit will be on 6940.605 kHz.

(edit)  Examples:

This is what it sounds like when I tune to 6940.6 kHz in CW mode  http://www.tokenradio.net/Radio/SharedFiles/UtilityTfer/6940_kHz_Link11_CW_mode_Doppler_tone_18072018_0248z.mp3

This is what it sounds like when I tune to the same signal, but in the more correct 6940 kHz USB mode http://www.tokenradio.net/Radio/SharedFiles/UtilityTfer/6940_kHz_Link11_USB_mode_18072018_0248z.mp3

Thanks, you could be right. I've heard Link 11 before but this was quite weak and it was difficult to distinguish
