Tuned in while "Hand Jive" was in progress, sounds like George Thorogood. S6 in NY but the modulation is very weak unfortunately. Song by Van Morrison at 2231 UTC. Signal starting to fade out at 2236 UTC.

I tend to doubt that the station testing on 5130.1 AM was WBCQ. WBCQ has been using 5130.4ish for a quite some time with a sign-on time of 0000 UTC. As the posting by EXO shows, WBCQ is still on 5130.4ish and as scheduled. Also, being in the skip zone of Monticello, Maine I have difficulty hearing them on 5130.4, whereas I was getting a weak and fadey signal on 5130.1 with audio that did not match the audio I get from WBCQ. I suppose they could have been testing.....off the beaten path of their schedule and OFF-frequency 0000 UTC broadcast! Oh well.....unless somebody claims the 5130.1 broadcast, then I guess we can put that one in the shortwave mystery box......

It's hard to tell with that bunch at WBCQ.
The original vid for that Dream Academy song was shot in a friend's hometown. It has more lesbians per capita than any town in the former EU. I asked him what it was like, he said, "You didn't get a lot of dates."
The second version of the vid was shot about thirty miles to the west in and around Manchester and is the version most people have seen.

Hearing this station S3 with fades @ 0207z 12/24 playing novelty tunes such as such as Nellie the Nudist Queen according to Shazam.
There is a DJ that reviewed the songs and gave call letters but as usual during a fade. Possibly he did say WBCQ

not sure how much power but i suspect less than 1KW.

You're correct on both counts. Timtron was onsite at Monticello and was testing one of the backup BC-610 transmitters from about 2100 to 0000. He didn't have the equipment to accurately measure power but it was no more than a couple of hundred watts.

I had a feeling it was Timtron. I've heard him do stuff like this for years when testing.
