Title: Classic Rock 7200 LSB 8 Feb 2019
Post by: DownInMyBasement on February 08, 2019, 2155 UTC
Hello community. Brand new participant here with my first posting, but long time radio hobbyist and pro broadcaster. It may take me a day or two to properly report and post so bear with me.

Listening in suburban Washington DC, and got a signal playing classic rock (Kinks, Cream et al) and TV soundbites (Rod Serling), 7200 LSB 2130 to 2150 UTC and beyond, 8 Feb 2019.  S7 on my SDR meter.

Anyone know who I've got? Thanx.

Welcome to the HFU, and thanks for the post!

Most likely what we refer to as "Hams Behaving Badly", a ham radio op playing music within the ham band, vs a pirate (although I agree the distinction can be subtle). Sometimes they're jamming another ham, other times just playing music.

A fairly good signal here as well.

I heard an interesting (hic) liquid discussion in one of the 80M SSB saloons last night about whether the FCC would do anything about this sort of thing any time soon, or took much interest in the subject. The answer seemed to be no.

Just like what happened on 14313 the biggest offenders will be ratted out on 7200 by other ham operators to the FCC. Then action will be taken. It is complaint driven.

The 14313 gang was memorable bunch. Occasionally the great Jimmy The Weasel would grace them with his presence and some original numbers. May you rest in peace, Jimmy.
