Title: SWLing Post: Voice of Korea announces new English language broadcast schedule
Post by: MDK2 on March 29, 2019, 1524 UTC
Unfortunately it appears that they're ceasing their North American beamed transmissions at 1300 and 1500 UTC on 9435 and 11760 kHz, which likely means none in any language for the entire timeframe that those transmitters are in use. Currently and historically there's a French broadcast at 1400 and 1600, and a Korean one at 1700.

Unfortunately it appears that "DanH" didn't check the 1500z transmission on 9435kHz and 11710 kHz 29 Mar 2019

I couldn't get 11710 at all, and 9435 was barely there for me. Are they staying on those frequencies?

Hooray, just heard that they're still keeping those broadcasts (tuned to 7570 on the Chiba Japan Kiwi SDR - that beam may be for Europe but conditions are crap and uTwente wasn't getting it well).

SWLing Post is usually better than that.

At best, I've only seen a hint of a carrier on the waterfall on all of the freqs they send over here. Haven't been able to get recoverable audio from them in a quite a while.

Very weak on 9435 with YL and OM conversing at 14:12.  Schedules state this is French to North America but language indecipherable due to very heavy static.    Switched to military marching music @ 14:14 UTC.
Back to YL @ 14:26 introducing an instrumental song featuring flute music.

Judging from these more recent reports, VOK isn't making it well to the eastern part of the country, but I've been able to get it OK for most of the late spring through now period, with the usual best reception of the year occurring from mid May until the end of June. During that time I can also get their 0400 UTC broadcasts to Central America which take place on 25, 22, and 19m (with 19 usually being the best) but those have faded out to nothing where they'll stay until next May.

As I type this (1600z), I'm hearing the interval signal at S9 strength on 9435. It's the French broadcast again. 11710 is barely there.
