Post by: East Troy Don on April 18, 2019, 0257 UTC
1030 khz with ID and commercial block @ 0248 utc 18 April 19.  Talk resumed at 02:52 but faded to indecipherable here is Southern WI @ 02:53.   Signal fought its way thru the QRN @ 0254 with the talk show host taking call ins.  Strange to get this as last time i tried this frequency (Feb 19) all I got was WGSF out of Memphis (534 miles)

SINPO: 2-2-1-1-1
NIGHT PWR:  50 KW
TX <> RX:  882 Miles

When the local 5kw daytime station on 1030 signs of for the evening, WBZ really booms into my Michigan QTH.
Most evenings WBZ can even be heard on my xtal set as loud as any local station.
The reason for the powerful signal may be the fact that WBZ uses a two tower array to
produce a directional signal beaming its 50kw westward.  None of its signal is wasted heating up the
Atlantic ocean.  Also, the transmitter site being in what appears to be a salt marsh probably
helps provide an excellent ground for the towers.
AFAIK, the only other Class I-A clear with a directional pattern is WWL AM 870 New Orleans.

Thanks PV.... helpful info especially since you appear to be on a direct line extended from Boston thru you to my QTH (unless you're in the UP).
