Title: New Zealand NDB review, some to go soon.
Post by: Looking-Glass on July 11, 2019, 1227 UTC
It was announced that the following NDB's in New Zealand will be turned off from 07th November 2019:

226KHz  FY  Ferry

254KHz  AS  Ashburton

274KHz  GB  Great Barrier Island

346KHz  MO  Manapouri

386KHz  LX  Alexandra

There will be four more scheduled to be turned off in 2020, as yet call signs not announced.  So log them whilst you still can, propagation permitting. 8)

Thanks LG!

Got all those.  The only NZ left for me to log is BE 394; never had any luck with that.

Likewise, BE 394KHz Berridale never been heard this way and been looking for it every time band is open to NZ, took me two or more years to log 226KHz KK Kerikeri too, and only a border line copy for about 30 seconds then gone!

Managed to log 201KHz WK Waikabubak in Indonesia for a new one but hard work to eventually get it out, was flicking between two receivers constantly, it was on fringe of approaching Grey Line, just a few hours earlier I logged three Chinese stations on Medium Wave so propagation was favouring SE Asia at the time.

Been looking for the high powered beacon in Hawaii and the other one in American Samoa (TUT) but proving to be hard catches.  One day! 8)
