Title: My Grundig SAT800ME dead
Post by: WWBR on August 26, 2019, 1600 UTC
I was moving some stuff in my studio and I moved the Sat800ME from one shelf to another. After it was hooked up on the other shelf, I noticed the display was blank even with the power connected OR disconnected. Yes, it was the correct wall wart. I removed and checked the batteries, which were fine, and put them back in. All I can think is maybe there was a spike when I reconnected the power lead.

Looking at my *horrible* pdf schematic, I really do not see a fuse indicated in the power section, unless it's in the resistor shown in series with the zener diode. I have not disassembled the rig yet.

Just wondered if anyone may have some insight on this issue or can hook me up with some info on this?

FWIW, I didn't catch the the familiar smell of electronic catastrophic failure. 30+ years in broadcast engineering has tuned my nose to that odor quite nicely. That is why I am inclined to think fuse or fused resistor.

Problem solved. There was a cold solder joint in the battery compartment.

Surely there's a reset button?
