Title: Propagashuns
Post by: Josh on September 09, 2019, 2140 UTC
Yep.

Anyway, anyone ever notice a slight reduction in overall sig strength on hf at local midday? My theory is with the sun being right overhead, the d layer absorption is greatest and it partially eats hf sigs, not just ambc. Starts sometime around noon or shortly after, till after 1pm or so. Could just be guys went to lunch or something.

Needs a sporty name like Brief Meridian HF Absorption.
Or mebbe Solar Zenith HF Perturbation Period.

D layer absorption certainly seems plausible.

It's the only reason I can come up with.
