Title: ICOM R7000
Post by: East Troy Don on January 29, 2020, 1636 UTC
My R7000 with a Diamond Discone antenna cant seem to hold a signal when in  SCAN mode.  Strength of signal doesnt seem to be the problem as both weak to strong signals break squelch ok but the 7000 immediately resumes scanning regardless of the signal strength.  If I reduce the squelch from the 12 oclock position  the unit stops at every memory channel setting whether there is an active signal or not, just the normal interference.  The SCAN SPEED, SCAN DELAY and FM/FMn settings seem to be working perfectly and  have no effect on this problem.  The unit otherwise works fine and holds signals perfectly if in manual mode - its just the  SCAN modes that display this problem.  Any ideas, guys?
Thanks,
Don

Don't have the manual in front of me but they have multiple modes of scanning, one that stops on an active chan and then leaves after a few secs even if the chans busy. Gatta have  the right mode selected.

This is immediate, like a split second.   Bewildering (at least to me).

Does the mode of the signal have any effect? SSB signals are a bit more difficult than AM/FM since the signal strength drops between words/syllables. -Justin

Nope, mode is not a factor
