We're radio silent here at 0:09. Guessing your geography 3000 miles West of me is playing a role in reception.

I wholeheartedly agree; the vagaries of propagation are an interesting factor in our shared hobby!

They were flying to Florida.

Very cool detail! I was wondering if the plane was in the air on on the ground.

Thanks!

Most welcome.

If awake and at home I normally have a rx on hfgcs, been listening to them for decades now. One time I was tuned to hfgcs, can't recall what freq it was nor the year, but a radioman aboard an USAF aircraft called for a phone patch and got it set up for the caller who was a Air Force General. The general discussed several items with the called party, including the upcoming closure of our air base in Panama. At that time, the airman overseeing the phone patch in the aircraft broke in and told the general he was on a unsecured line, the general went apeshit. A few months later we closed our base in Panama and I had a news scoop for months before the fact. You never know what you're going to hear.

Another note, they don't id as AF1 until POTUS is aboard, otherwise they're 29000 or whatever the bird is called these days.
