MONTHLY EDITION N°06
June 26, 2020
AMEND AS FOLLOWS:
On September 30, 2019, the United States Coast Guard permanently discontinued the following DGPS sites: Appleton (Washington), Whidbey Island (Washington), Fort Stevens (Oregon). For more information consult: WWW.NAVCEN.USCG.GOV under the Nationwide DGPS tab.
Over the course of At the end of June 2020, the USCG will be discontinuing its remaining 17 additional DGPS beacon sites. Some of those sites, located near the Great Lakes, provide DGPS signals in areas that are not covered by Canadian Coast Guard (CCG).
CCG will continue to monitor the closure of the USCG DGPS sites and communicate information to affected mariners. For the time being, and until further notice, the Canadian Coast Guard will not discontinue any of its DGPS sites.

Thanks Canada, for informing us about U.S. stations. The latest LNMs (25-20) have no notices for any of the nine districts.
And great news that Canadian stations will remain on the air.
-
Yes, I checked the USCG notices and saw nothing. Wonder where Canada got the June 30th date? I guess I will have to record starting the night of the 29th and see what, if anything, happens.
-
I sent a message to the USCG asking what the closure plan is for DGPS. I will let you know if I hear back.

I am watching the shutdowns happening now, live. Started at 1452 UTC. So I guess they did mean 10 AM EST not EDT after all. I think they are gone now (1500 UTC). Although I have someone on 292 kHz. 100 baud.
-
The last decode I have is Upper Keneenaw at 11:45:40, but there are thunderstorms in the region that took that one out.
This includes all recordings through 15:13Z, so I didn't catch the shutdown here.

Weird, Moriches dropped in strength but is still going.
-
Moriches went QRT at 1704.
-
Wonder if these transmitters will show up for sale.

That be GTN around 323?

That be GTN around 323?
Yes, that was the pest that prevented me from ever receiving the Robinson Pt WA DGPS station. Every year I asked Santa to send a small asteroid to GTN, but he never did ;D
-
Thanks! Maybe I'll be able to hear it again this season assuming, of course, that somebody's Christmas gift doesn't come screaming out of the sky and nuke it.

The DGPS band looks very lonely now. But I am hopeful this means some new Euro DX this winter.
