-

Came back from a walk at local dusk to hear an audible but poor signal direct at my place near Seattle; good signal via the Northern Utah SDR.
0122 UTC: "Less Than" by Nine Inch Nails.
0124 UTC: Canned ID into "Streambreather" by Mastodon.
0129 UTC: Redhat going over past few songs played, then shout-outs to HFU posters. Mentioned this is his "decade in review" music show and gave email address. Broadcasting "east of the Rockies, but west of normal."
0135 UTC: Redhat mentioned he's drinking Rogue's Dead Guy Ale, which is a great ale; I've visited the tasting room at Rogue's headquarters on the Oregon Coast. Since found out I'm allergic to beer, so I've graduated to wine and whiskey.
0136 UTC: "Trials" by Starset.
0141 UTC: "Radio" by Rammstein. I LOVE this song; one of my faves from 2019.
0145 UTC: Canned ID into "Rope" by Foo Fighters.
0149 UTC: Redhat with time check into "Shot in the Dark" from AC/DC's newest album.
0153 UTC: Redhat back on mic, mentioning previously played songs and doing HFU shout-outs.
0158 UTC: Canned ID into "Cool Kids" by Echosmith. Going to sit back and enjoy the tunes for a while!
0212 UTC: That "When is the Future" song by VNV Nation's pretty cool. The signal's still poor here near Seattle, but it's breaking through the noise in AM mode rather than just SSB now. Also a decent signal via the Winnemucca, Nevada, SDR I'm now listening to.
0320 UTC: Checked back on the signal on my radio here near Seattle, and it's improved to fair at the peaks. But there's still a lot of noise between those peaks.
0413 UTC: The noise has subsided somewhat, and I can now hear Redhat from across the room most of the time here on my radio.
-

Hearing here in NE MA since 0133 with OM talk, but fair-weak with LOTS of noise, though sometimes the noise fades out and a mild signal is evident. Music at 0139: Rock w/OM vocals. Too much noise at my QTH! :'(

Obvious this isn't your first rodeo...I appreciated the new tracks from AC-DC as well....if you get a wild hair...."I am the God of Hellfire" from "the Crazy World of Arthur Brown"... lol... that would be a nice twist...

S8 in Toronto Ont Canada with some fading. Nice quality audio. Voice ID at 02:38 and 02:42 UTC. At 00:45 UTC the announcer mentioned that if you would like to get in contact with the station to e-mail: xfmshortwave@gmail.com. The announcer also mentioned HF Underground and is reading out current posts.
Richard | Toronto, Ont Canada | RSPduo on a 42 ft end-fed long wire antenna.
-
Signal has been building since I tuned in. Up to 30 over now with light qsb
-
I'm late to the party! Lots of fading here but totally copyable on primitive passive loop of wire around my window. Thank you once again, RedHat!
-
Originally listening at 0101: Unfamiliar, pleasant rock, Redhat talking and shouting out to folks who logged on HF Underground, ID into music. Signal was S7 and very noisy. QRN and fading made it hard to listen.
0344 Redhat giving contact information into more music, 0349 canned ID into music. Now S8 still with QRN but no where as bad.
Thanks for the broadcast.
-
Been listening for the last hour or so in Washington DC. Started out barely readable, but much stronger now,
R9500 and a Wellbrook ioop on the roof.
-
Still here at 04:09 UTC - switched to a different antenna (should have done that before) peaking between 20-40 over right now. Nice to have some real radio to listen to. I lean more to alt rock but it's all good. Thank you. Smoke 'em if ya got 'em.

What I love about X-FM is that the operator genuinely has no snobbery about music categories, he just plays whatever moves him, whatever he likes. This is maybe _the_ theme of pirate broadcasting, back to the Radio Caroline days, it's true of most operators, come to think of it. Even when the music style isn't my usual thing I learn something, and there's always a good idea in there. Sometimes there are themes from music over the years, which is pretty much a pirates-only thing. I'm more a rocker too and listen to very little current stuff, but I'm hearing good songs tonight. Cheers to XFM for this incredible signal and for flying the freak flag, high, as Jimi Hendrix used to say.
edit: signal into Baja Arizona has only improved over the last hour
-
Good evening Redhat! I'm not able to listen in real time tonight, but I've been running the SDR recorder since nearly the beginning and will leave it running to catch the rest. I just checked on it and your signal is beautiful here -- strong and clear. Your programs are a real tour de force on so many levels. I'm sure I will enjoy this one when I replay it in the coming days. Thanks for all that you do!
-
What I love about X-FM is that the operator genuinely has no snobbery about music categories, he just plays whatever moves him, whatever he likes.
I play what I like also. When you offer something different others appreciate it.
