I'm hearing HKR on 8005khz on the KFS omni antenna S5 at times
time 1415 utc
-
HKR is coming into KFS sdr and NUT sdr time is 1925 utc..
a lot stronger on the NUT sdr.
FREQ. 8005 khz
-
Pretty sure I caught hkr just before a large 500Kc wide QRM monster appeared just a bit lower and swallowed up much of the spectrum. Must be some sort of locally (to KFS Omni) noise source.

From my current QTH in Panguitch, in SW Utah, I am copying what I am told is Hiker, on about 7998.17KHz. About 90 beeps every 60 seconds.
I first heard it on 7/07/2022 at 0930 MDT (1530z) at about a 539, and again on 7/09/2022 at 1700 MDT (2300z) at about a 419.
Receiver is the Belka DX with 28" whip.

Earlier this morning I picked up Hiker/Shorty here at home and it was happily beeping away for maybe an hour and now it has transitioned to series of long dashes and long spaces, maybe 3-4 sec each.
-
Good catch on your part...the slow dash mode does not occur very often based on my listening.
Generally when I have caught Hiker in slow dash mode a SKY KING cw message follows.
I did catch four or five cw messages this past summer...they mainly were about the operators
fishing adventures. The operator uses a J 37 leg key from the Vietnam days.

Hearing HIKER here again this morning at 1600 utc. Nice signal.
