Very good reception, currently in Cleveland, about 850 miles from me. First Arkansas catch ever. PL 880 with its wire.

Thanks for the heads up on this one.
Had tried for them earlier in the month after a post by East Troy Don but no luck.
Finally heard them last evening just before midnight with a booming signal... Southern Gospel format.
There is a local on the same freq but it was completely covered.
Only my second Arkansas ever in the logbook.

My pleasure, Happy Thanksgiving. I didn't even see Don's post until I logged. I was thinking either what a coincidence it was we both caught it or reception peaked for them and we both caught it. I was just turning the dial to see what I could catch in my temporary digs and realized the strong signal coming in was not WBAL by hearing the programming. Did a little research and matched it to KAAY. Certainly different dxing on the western fringe of the eastern time zone. While driving to Cleveland, I was listening to the Ohio State/Michigan State (what a disaster) pre-game & game in daylight on WJR starting from Dubois, Pa westward to Cleveland. Dubois about 325 air miles from Detroit!

Seems like local WCAR AM 1090 is off the air... nothing but noise.
WBAL started coming in quite nicely on the car radio just after 1600 EST,
probably still on their omnidirectional pattern.
Tonight, however, KAAY owns the 1090 spot on the dial on the portable here in the shack.

KAAY used to come in in the Omaha area nightly with almost local strength, moving to Indiana made it much harder to catch. I wondered why the change in sig strength was so drastic, then noted this;

Went from 30 to 8 and it shows.
