Take a look at THIS thing....the blob, not the 6895kHz signal.

I get these as well on a regular basis and have attributed them to correspond to solar flares.

22:35 UTC 19 DEC 2021 - For anyone interested, the "blob" is currently passing through at or near 6940.0 kHz.
22:53 UTC - The blob has suddenly disappeared and the band is once again clear;
22:57 UTC - The blob has reappeared at or near 6890.0 kHz;
00:00 UTC - The blob has suddenly disappeared.

I am just passing the 1/2 way point in-between the grey line at this time.
