Yes, I agree with the overpriced comment. The "let's make a bunch of money by selling SDRs" boat sailed some time ago.

The quicksilver SDR QS1R looks very nice, but I can't justify the cost right now.  A sub $50 dongle would be great to play with, but I don't think they'll perform on the SW bands I want.

I have no experience with this SDR, but have heard good things about it: http://www.afedri-sdr.com/

Seems to start at $249

Hi

I have the AFERDI sdr , got it about 2 months ago, very impressed by it, compared to my other Rx/SDR's it hold up well it starts at 199 for the PCB only version but I really recommend the boxed version at 249. It got both network and USB interfaces I have mine located in the attic far away from the many rf noise sources in my house and can use it from all my computers.

After getting it I wish I bought it before my Perseus and spent the money l would have saved on  new loop and a few more terebytes on a home has server, recording RF for later analysis gets addicting, The designer has a diversity reception model in the works also for around 350 which will be my next radio buy.

With a 300MHz - 3.8GHz RF frequency range, it is of little use to anyone but say wireless ISP's, hams or someone who works in that range.

It would be of no use to anyone who was looking for HF reception...

Just FYI

The Funcube dongle+ covers HF, quite sensitive in this region.
