Whatever happened to Bram Stoker from Radio Azteca? Perhaps we can get him to do new Radio Azteca episodes now and then.

I've often wondered that myself. "The Station That Lifts And Separates". Those shows were short but good.

There's an archive of Radio Azteca programs on the FRN in the top menu under
free radio program audio...or something like that.

It was a much smaller scene with no audio software for editing shows. A perfectionist like Fearless Fred took weeks to put a 30-45 minute show together. When editing software came along a lot of ops would get their bit rates screwed up and the show would go off at twice the normal speed or more. The learning curve could be pretty steep, and the shows unintentionally funny.

If you liked bad jokes, the kind that made you wince, and odd news, Radio Azteca was the station for you. Coming home and tuning into Radio Azteca was like hitting a home run.

Bram and I shared a box op and mutual friends, though I never met the man. I understand Stoker kept extensive scrapbooks of weird news to use in those shows. I never heard him repeat a news item, unless it was in a rerun of a show. There may have been better produced pirates but none more consistent.

His show's struck me as Paul Harvey coming from Bizzaro World. It's good to know those shows are still out there.
