European Pirates and Private Stations / Re: UNID 6930.9
« on: February 25, 2024, 1901 UTC »
Thank you. I'm from the USA so not familiar with the European scene. I'm not too far from the Canary Islands at my location in El Jadida so that explains the good signal.

Something with vocal mx, fair signal, on 6930.9. Hard to describe mx ... sounds a bit African.  This heard in El Jadida, Morocco. 1840. AM mode. At 1845 mx sounds more Latin.

3
Very weak signal in El Jadida, Morocco at 1835.

4
1820 Hearing this in El Jadida, Morocco. Not real strong but I recognize Hank Williams' voice in the song.

5
Great signal in central Pennsylvania.

Listening in a semi-rural area just east of the city of Armenia in central Colombia.  Making it in with a decent signal.

... IZS4 - Armenia is the capital of Quindio department, which produces the most high-quality coffee here, even thought it is the smallest department in the country.

No pescadores QRM in Colombia. He must be a lot further north.

This is making it to Manizales, Colombia. I'm at a rural mountain side hostel (the Mauro Hilton Hostel - Google it - no connection to that other Hilton) just NW of the city of Manizales. It's weak but I just heard the ID a few minutes ago. Receiver an Afedri SDR and the antenna is 27 meters of wire in a rough delta on the mountainside feed through a Wellbrook amplifier.

Carrier only from the other pirate reported on 6950.5.

Post by Chris Smolinski on the Grupo Radioescucha Argentina Facebook group says this is RCW Radio Compania Worldwide .. and that sounds like the ID I heard.   Now playing "Tie a Yellow Ribbon".

General Radio Discussion / 1980s pirate memorabilia for sale
« on: March 14, 2014, 2255 UTC »
I'm selling some pirate radio memorabilia from my collection. Most of this is from 1981 or before.  Most of this is Euro-Pirate, e.g. a large collection of Dutch pirate stickers from around 1980.

I was at a DXpediton near Brighton, Michigan, USA (west of Detroit) over the weekend. Several of us heard you there with very strong and clear signals. I was using an Eton E-1 with a 65 meter long wire antenna.  We would have listened longer but we had to pack up and leave the cabin and the park.

Reception: March 10 2014 ... 1220 to 1305 UTC ... 21460 kHz
Program: Mix of pop, rock, and country songs including Good Hearted Woman, Convoy, Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress, and Girls Just Want to Have Fun.

Can you QSL to Don at Blandx dot com?
