Utility / Re: Pactor-I SUGRIWA
« on: April 15, 2017, 2339 UTC »
I've just identified these callsigns:
They seem to belong to the Tunisian MOI net which can be seen often sending in Pactor-II mode.

I logged a Pactor-II transmission with Tunisian CRC and the typical #HFARQ# - Mails on the same frequency.
There was the callsign "SAMBA14" again.

On about 9105 kHz (Twente SDR) there are just endless calls of "SUGRIWA" and "SAMBA14" by two stations in Pactor-I
Any idea who it is ?

On 12704.5 kHz - same story different frequency: Portuguese Navy Stanag, but this time with the CARB channel on LSB

Right now on Twente SDR there is a very strong Stanag 4285 transmission of Portuguese Navy, callsign CTA.
Frequency 14631 kHz
They are transmitting in independent ISB mode. On USB you get the clear text CARB messages, on LSB there is an encrypted transmission.

Utility / ALE call "CAIRADIO" ?
« on: February 01, 2017, 2053 UTC »
Just now there are 141A ALE calls every 5 minutes on 10947 kHz with callsign CAIRADIO.
Cannot find any information for that call.
Any idea who it is ?

Utility / Re: unknown STANAG4285 clear text

Indian Navy just confirmed by this received weather report. (Port Blair on Andamanen near India)
I guess there is more clear text to be received, but a 100% decoding of a 2400bd signal from India over Twente SDR is difficult..

Same Stanag is transmitting on same frequency again just at the moment.
I think I can identify it as a transmission of the Indian Navy:
From time to time I got "VTH DE GOLF UNIFORM" - VTH is listed as Indian navy in Mumbay.
Nevertheless this call and the number groups are quite rare, most of the time I don't see clear text when decoding with ASCII 8N1 framing.

Utility / unknown STANAG4285 clear text
« on: December 15, 2016, 2318 UTC »
Just logged on 8735.8 kHz a STANAG 4285 signal in mode 2400 long.
I did not expect to get some clear text, but I was surprised when decoding with ASCII 8N1 !  (see picture)

Does anybody know who might be on this frequency or who is sending these number groups ?
(Remarkable is the start of the message with "A1B2C3D4E5F6G7H8I9J0")

Software / Re: Sorcerer decoder
« on: August 29, 2016, 1949 UTC »
I used a several times this site for downloading of sorcerer:
http://www.kd0cq.com/2013/07/sorcerer-decoder-download/
I never had a problem (on Win7, Win8 and Win10) and checked it with some malware and virus scanners and never got a warning.
But of course it has some bugs and not all modes are decoded correctly. Sometimes it is crashing (for me always by using PACTOR-III)

A good alternative for Stanag-4285 decoding is Sigmira: http://www.saharlow.com/technology/sigmira/

Utility / Re: decoding STANAG-4285
« on: August 28, 2016, 0949 UTC »
So far I got clear text STANAG4285 from French, Italian, Dutch and Canadian stations.
Most of them are using 600 Long and ITA2 5N1 mode, but some are using also lower speed rates and even or odd framings.
I never logged clear text with higher rates like 1200 (which most probably makes no sense for a simple short Idle text)

Here are some examples of stations which are transmitting clear text (but maybe also sometimes encrypted):

Italian Stations like IDR, IDN:
http://qrg.globaltuners.com/?q=Italian+Navy+%2F+STANAG+4285
Italian Allied Joint Force Command (JFC) from Napoli with callsign NSS e.g. on 6218.2 kHz
http://i56578-swl.blogspot.de/2014/09/jfcnato-napoli-nns-or-idn-callsign.html

Dutch Navy PBC:
http://qrg.globaltuners.com/?q=Dutch+Navy%2C+STANAG+4285

Canadian Forces CFH: (using 75 Long)
http://qrg.globaltuners.com/?q=Canadian+Forces%2C+STANAG+4285

And like already mentioned several French Navy stations like FUO, FUE, FUG, FUM, 6WW,...
http://qrg.globaltuners.com/?q=French+Navy+%2F+STANAG+4285

Nearly all of these clear text transmissions are always repeating the same short idle texts with callsigns, frequency information, quick brown foxes, or similar.
But there are also some stations in interaction with other channels.
For example the French Navy FUE on 6348 kHz. Most of the time there is an idle text like "ALL DE FUE... TESTING... RYRYRY... SGSGSG..."
But somtimes the transmission stops because someone (I guess a Navy ship) is calling.
At that time another STANAG4285 transmission starts on another channel on frequency 6259 kHz.
This transmission can be received in KG84C encryption (decoders like sorcerer can detect the encryption but of course it cannot be decrypted).
After this transmission stops, the clear text STANAG on 6348 kHz of FUE starts again with a response.
And this time the response looks different and may consist of a kind of operator chat.
I logged the following responses:
"FI DE  FUE...  MCI COOP... AR..."
"KKKKILO... FR DE FUE... QSL R 251423Z MAY 15... TIME 1500Z..."
"DIRCENNESSENCES PARIS RFFCCC RFFCCCT... JE MODIFIE POUR VOUS..."
"VEUILLEZ VERIFIEZ VOS BASES (MILFRANCE LONDRES)..."

Utility / AF Forest Moor transmits soccer score in ALE-2G
« on: June 27, 2016, 2001 UTC »
Just logged Air force base Forest Moor with an ALE-2G transmission to UKE302 RAF Waddington on 9019 kHz.
They are transmitting the score of the game England vs Iceland.
Very uncommon to use ALE for such information  ;D

HF Mystery Signals / Re: UNID mode 13935 usb 1545 UTC 14 NOV 2015

That's a PACTOR-IV modem. (For example SCS P4dragon)
This mode has several different soundings.

See here an example:
