Greetings,

Just logged the following test transmission from Woofferton:

09545.0khz AM, 14:20 UTC:  Woofferton transmitter site test transmission. Short pieces of music. Male announcer: "You are listening to a test transmission. Please email your reception reports to: transmissiontest (at) gmail (dot) com."

Receiver used was University of Twente WebSDR, Netherlands. Antenna used was PA0RDT Mini-Whip antenna. Strong signal (S9+30) and very good modulation and audio. Good propagation with occasional fading.

I have also checked a remote kiwiSDR receiver in Cheltenham, UK. Antenna used was Sotabeams dipole 20 / 40m at 7m height. Strong signal (S9+10) and very good modulation and audio. Very good propagation (likely groundwave propagation received) with no fading.

Shortwave Broadcast / Re: What is wrong with Radio Cairo?
« on: January 07, 2018, 1819 UTC »
Right now (18:17 UTC) on 9540 Radio Cairo with uncommonly good modulation but low audio. The schedule goes from 18:00 to 19:00 and it's in Italian.

Are they finally fixing their stuff?

EDIT: Also found on 9975khz in Turkish from 17:00 to 19:00 UTC. However, the audio is so low I can only catch a strong carrier. The very bit of audio that I can hear seems also a bit badly modulated. Also, this slot ended 25 minutes before the expected.

The other two schedules that are supposed to be active (9325, 15285) are off air.

Shortwave Broadcast / What is wrong with Radio Cairo?
« on: January 04, 2018, 2315 UTC »
Hi folks,

Recently I have tried to listen to some Radio Cairo on shortwave. After taking a look at the schedule on short-wave.info (where it's usually updated) I tried several schedules.

The problem is that most of these transmissions didn't happen at all. I managed to find only one schedule from this messy broadcaster, which is the following:

- 04-01-2018: 21:15 to 22:45 on 9900khz in English.

I have to say as well that the broadcast ended 30 minutes before expected, at 22:15.

So what's the problem, exactly? Radio Cairo used to have a huge amount of badly modulated schedules which used to mess around with other bc stations (the schedules are still listed on short-wave.info), however almost all schedules don't take place. Are they planning to shut down Radio Cairo? Is the schedule outdated?

Also, I would like to ask where the official source for the schedule is, if any, since I have been unable to find it by surfing the internet.

Best regards, qsr711

Shortwave Broadcast / Radio Cairo email address?
« on: November 12, 2016, 2311 UTC »
Today I decided to catch the usually badly modulated Radio Cairo. Surprisingly, the English transmission on 9900 had a really good signal and the voices and music were modulated enough to be comprehensible.
Then I decided to send a reception report to Radio Cairo. However, I don't know their email address. They mentioned a couple times englishoverseas@gmail.com, but I think this is the program email, rather than Radio Cairo email. I looked a bit around their webpage, which is http://www.egradio.eg , but I couldn't find anything either.
So, does anyone know the right email for this purpose?

Thanks, qsr711 :)

This is today's V15 transmission, which is a repeat from Sep 15th. So technically, only one message per month is sent.

After a deeper analysis with audacity, the transmission lasted exactly the same, with the timing between numbers being totally equal, and the voice was the same too. Maybe prerecorded transmissions?

I haven't heard V15 myself just yet, but will keep my ears out if i can time it right.

Next transmission will be Thursday 29th at 16:15 UTC. Try receivers in Asia for best reception :)

Spy Numbers / M23 logs + Help finding the transmitter location!
« on: June 16, 2016, 1710 UTC »
Hey, qsr711 here, just wanted to alert you that M23 is back on air, with transmissions starting on 8030 and 5182 (simulcast) anytime between 16:30 and 18:30 UTC. The first reporting of this station this year was on June 15. Transmissions seem to start at full hour and 30 minutes past the full hour. If you want more info, check http://priyom.org/number-stations/morse/m23.

We know that the source of the transmission is France, but the priyom team wants to go a step further. If anyone lives in Western Europe and has the equipment to perform a triangulation study, please contact the priyom team via IRC (irc://irc.freenode.net/priyom) or post your triangulation results here. Keep in mind that M23 can stay on air for several hours, which makes it easier to track down. A heading from Hamburg is the one that has pointed the transmission country to France, but one result isn't enough.

The station will be active for at least one week, so hurry up!

qsr711   :)

*EDIT: A new M23 schedule has been found. The schedule is from 14:30 UTC to 15:30 UTC, with ID 246. The broadcasts are made in two simultaneous frequencies like the 943 slot, which are 6806 and 5345 CW. It also starts at half hour and full hour.

*EDIT 2: The old time slot on 8040/5182 seems to be gone for now, only the 6806/5345 transmitted today.

*EDIT 3: The station is back into its large hibernation period, only the test dash before the transmission appeared today (June 15th), which can be transmited for months. The transmission site could be the Feucherolles DGSE antenna field, located in northwestern Paris. Many thanks for the DF results sent all these days!
