Longwave Loggings / RDL 21.10 kHz Mil HQ Moskva VLF on this morning
« on: November 25, 2023, 1456 UTC »
I've been listening at the low end of the bands.  I'm hearing narrowband FSK on 21.1 kHz this morning at about 1400Z.    The transmitter is coming on for a while then off again.  Sounds like they are transmitting short FSK message traffic.  1454Z the transmission came on again sending FSK CW.  Seemed like random characters for about 30 seconds, then switched off again.  73, Sky, Tucson, Az

Longwave Loggings / TFK/NRK Grindavik is off the air likely evacuated.
« on: November 12, 2023, 0211 UTC »
I haven't heard NRK on 37.5 kHz in a few days.  It must be evacuated due to the volcanic activity emergency.  It looks like the seismic activity is directly below NRK.  This is going to be a huge loss if the site is destroyed.  73, KI6R

HF Mystery Signals / Scrambled 21.2 MHz HF Comms out of Europe?
« on: May 30, 2023, 1422 UTC »
The 15 meter amateur band is open to Europe this morning.  Worked a station from Croatia with strong signals.  Hearing some apparently scrambled voice traffic on the 15m amateur band.  Seems to be LSB but wideband at 6-10 kHz bandwidth.  The language is perhaps Romanian or some other latin or slavic based.  There is a lot of conversation.  Almost sounds like a full duplex phone conversation of split frequencies.  Anyone know what this is.  73. Sky, Az.

USB voice on 4724.0 with call sign "Bad Alibie" at about 0150Z.  Reading alpha numeric characters using phonetics.  Announced 34 characters and then read them, twice.  Signal has an echo so it sounds like a simulcast from multiple transmitter sites.  Is this some sort of ground-to-air transmission by the military?  73.

Does anyone know what this broadcast is about.  Currently 11.175 MHz USB at 0508 UTC 3/6/22.  They announce "This is Granville, Standby" then they read off letters using the phonetic alphabet.  Also "This is Granville, more to follow."  First it was an older male voice, now it is a younger female voice.

HF Mystery Signals / 5280 kHz USB Voice Inversion?
« on: February 04, 2021, 1652 UTC »
I'm hearing some lengthy conversations on 5280 kHz sounding like voice inversion USB.  Perhaps it is inversion on LSB.  Does anyone know what this is?  Tnx.  Sky, Arizona.
