I am listening to Radio Veronica at this very minute. It seems like a legitimate channel. It carries what appears to be rather customary commercial advertising and it has a website.

What I want to know is why the website lists all of its FM frequencies, but makes no mention of 5955 kHz! Any reason? I can't imagine that it is a licensed station on FM but has a foray into radio piracy on shortwave.

I guess Weiner had to find a live preacher to pay the bills since Brother Stair is six feet under waiting to be resurrected.

There is LOTS more to the WLC story than just replacing Brother Stair. You should take a look at the enormous 500 KW broadcast tower that Allan had built just for WLC. Pretty amazing.

Amazing!

I was on a VPN, and when my location was set to Poland, there was nothing. I switched to Iceland and now I see the page again. 

I can't image that page is blocked in Poland, but for some reason, simply switching VPN to another country did the trick.

Many of you will be familiar with the fmscan.org webpage. It was a great application that allowed you to enter geographical and other details and to find radio stations of all kinds, as well as propagation characteristics and the likelihood of hearing such stations from anywhere in the world.

Now I just get 404 when I go to that page. Anyone here know what's going on?

Interesting. I was in contact with them in about 2005 when they had the transmitter in Estbjerg, Denmark. I don't know why they did not mention their pirate past. Thanks for filling me in.

WMR is a legit station. Years ago when I lived in Sweden, it came in very clearly on this frequency, but now their power is VERY low (about 200 W!). I don't know how they are supposed to service all of Europe.

I really liked the station itself.

I would have thought by now, given the blanket censorship of the issue, that the European continent would have several stations dedicated to alternative views of the pandemic.

Do you know of any others?

It's strange. I never heard of this station until just tonight when I found this tribute broadcast accidentally.
Yet, with only 10 minutes left until the end of this final broadcast, I find the shut-down to be a bit emotional. Maybe I am a sucker for sentimentality, but listening to this recording almost puts me right back there 50 years ago.

Wow, that is some great info. I am impressed that the signal is coming in from Yerevan, since it is blasting in clearly onto the University of Twente remote listening post. Good stuff.

Someone is playing the final broadcast from 18 October 1970 of Radio CAE (Canadian Army Europe) now on 18 October 2020 - exactly 50 years later. Anyone know who is up to this. It must be some kind of tribute. It is synchronised perfectly, i.e., the time checks from 50 years ago are in synch with the actual clock now. Pretty neat.

The announcer keeps reiterating that this is the last broadcast ever.

Answered my own question, or rather the Voice of Tibet webpage did.

" Tuning and re-tuning is needed due to “jamming” from China. "

The webpage confirms that they broadcast on 7490 officially, but actually oscillate between 7487 and 7493 to counter jamming.

Now, if only I can find out where the transmitter is located. Shortwave info puts it in Dushanbe.

Now, the obvious question is: Why would it jump frequencies like that? Is it on purpose or just bad equipment?
