I've actually heard on the 10 meter band what sounded like CW going on at the same time USB talk on the same frequency.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I was lucky enough to inherit the ICOM R7100 receiver. I still don't know much about it or how to operate it completely. I've used it just enough to spark my interest in more shortwave monitoring. Sorry to say I'm not even sure how to orientate an end fed wire antenna. I think I enjoy using the R75 more than the R7100. There seems to be a lot more activity on the R75. As soon as I can get my wire antenna orientated correctly and completely off the ground I'm sure I will enjoy it that much more. I do have the manuals to both receivers. I just need to read and try to understand the terminology better.

Equipment / Re: What Radio Did you start your listening hobby with?
« on: February 26, 2013, 1347 UTC »
I started shortwave monitoring several years ago with a Grundig Satellit 700 and then later on had a Grundig Satellit 800. I only used the built-in antenna and never got around to putting up an outdoors antenna. I now have 2 receivers. An ICOM IC-R7100 and ICOM IC-R75 receiver. I have a Discone D-3000N about 35' high and a Par end fed 45' long wire antenna.

Equipment / Antenna orientation
« on: February 26, 2013, 1339 UTC »
Being new at this I'm still a little confused about which direction an end fed 45' wire antenna should be orientated. My current antenna is running N.W. to S.E. With the transformer and coax connection being on the N.W. end of the antenna nearest to my house. The antenna is currently 35' off of the ground. Which direction(s) is this RX antenna going to perform the best at with my ICOM R75?

Would someone trace this call and tell me where I am?

Hello to all and thanks for the opportunity to join The HFU HF Underground Team. I am a novice to SWL and hope to learn and enjoy chatting with you guys. I currently have an ICOM IC-R7100 and ICOM IC-R75 receivers along with a D3000N antenna and an end fed 45' wire antenna.
