Very Strong signal with several males singing a song stating 1992.
Signal lost at 21:57 UTC.

NORTH AMERICAN SHORTWAVE CONTEST
“The Final Countdown”

Just a friendly reminder that the North American SW DX Contest, “The Final Countdown,” will be starting in a few weeks.  The Holidays are upon us and time is flying.

Remember the Contest starts at:
 00:00 UTC, 1/7/17 thru 00:00 UTC, 1/29/17.

Get your contest forms if you haven’t yet by contacting me at: broadwing56@msn.com or mail at: John P. Cooper, 734 Sally Ann Drive, Lebanon, PA 17046.

Additionally, the entrance fee is not due until you submit your final entry forms. $5.00 is the cost of entry, check, money order or cash accepted. Checks and Money Orders should be made out to John P. Cooper.

Universal Radio Inc. is sponsoring the contest and has donated really Great Prizes for 1-3rd place that will be awarded along with Certificates of Completion for all who participate with contest standing annotated on them. The NASWA, and CIDX are also sponsors of this event.
 
Since most of us DXers will be ready for some action after the Holidays are over this is your chance to participate in a great Contest. Support your Hobby.

15:24 UTC. - I just picked up the station with talk about the music DJ said "Okay!" prior to playing new song.
15:31 UTC.-  Song ended and DJ  stated "Thank you very much and then he talked about "several very nice reports," he has received.
15:32 UTC.- New song started. I do not know the name but I am enjoying the music.
15:38 UTC.- Song ended with DJ talking again.  Station continues to fade in and out with noise and static  S5.
15:39 UTC.- Thanking people for reports, played new song.
15:42 UTC.- "Around the World with Radio" stated by DJ, played new song.
15:46 UTC.- DJ talking, gave station ID from the "Middle of the Netherlands", noise level increasing in waves. SINPO here: 43343.
15:48 UTC.- New song starting up.
15:51 UTC.- New song slower style, with (P) female singer.
Left for a minute came back.
15:59 UTC- New song playing.
16:05 UTC- Got to run for a bit- Thanks so much for the show! I greatly enjoyed what I could hear.

I picked it up earlier at 16:29 UTC,  and had no idea it was a Euro Pirate because all I was hearing was back to back pop music.  

Thanks for the tip when I put it on the Pirate logs for US.

1659 UTC  Male announcer with British Accent giving out Cupid Radio ID and talking about BCing at 50 watts.
1704 UTC Picked up more talk and another Cupid Radio ID.

The station has been playing Pop music without a break since 1630 UTC with the songs in English.  
It isn't listed on any B16 sked I have. It keeps fading in and out.
Signal is very weak right now at S3/S4. Fading in and Out.

Thanks so much for the tip.  I never expected to catch a Euro Pirate.

Just got the ID from the male announcer as he was talking.

NORTH AMERICAN SHORTWAVE DX CONTEST
“the final countdown”
2017
This contest will be held from 00:00 UTC on 7 January 2017 until 00:00 UTC on 29 January 2017. It is open to all shortwave listeners in the North American region regardless of their membership in any Shortwave or Ham Radio Club.

The primary contest frequencies will be from 2300 kHz-26130 kHz. SW stations logged outside this range will not be accepted.

The fee for entering the contest will be $5.00 USD acceptable in cash, check, or money order.   Cash can be sent by mail to: John P. Cooper, 734 Sally Ann drive, Lebanon, PA 17046.  Checks or Money Orders should be made out to John P. Cooper.

POSTAGE DEADLINE DATE:  4 February, 2017 (latest date of post office cancellation).  Contest forms cancelled after that date will be returned to sender.

A Contest Certificate of Participation suitable for framing, with contest standing noted will be awarded to each individual DXer participating along with a separate list of participants and standings in the contest. Final results will be posted in the March 2017 NASWA Journal and online at various sites.
Prizes for 1st-3rd place will be awarded.

Part 1: A total of 16 random contest countries will be picked and contestants must log one valid station from each country to be awarded points. 1000 points will be awarded for each logged county and will be divided by the total number of all eligible logs for each country and rounded by 2 decimal places. (EXP: If Germany is a country and you are the only one to log it you get 1000 points.  If 6 others log the same country it is 1000/7=142.85 points per log of this country.)

Part 2:  Contestants will log as many individual countries heard consulting the NASWA Country list and SW Station definition as a guide. (Available on line at NASWA.net) A maximum of 100 points will be given per country logged.  Ham transmissions and Utility stations will not be allowed. If only you log a certain country, 100 points will be awarded. If 6 others log the same country, it is 100/7=14.28 points.

Part 3: To raise your score further-1000 Points Max. You will be given the opportunity to log North American Pirate Stations, (No Euro Pirates) with 100 Points awarded for each Pirate that you get a valid ID on divided by the number of contestants who log the same station. 10 Stations Maximum. (EXP: Yours is the only log for Boom Box Radio 100 points. If 6 others log it is 100/7=14.28 points.)

NOTE:  You must give sufficient details in your logs for them to be validated.  Logs with general notes such as “music,” “male/female talk,” will not be accepted. Try to get valid station ID’s and program translations if it is not in English.  Logs must be from your own SW equipment, not on line nets such as the University of Twente or Perseus Nets. No audio tapes will be accepted!

I wanted to announce that there will be a North American Shortwave DX Contest sponsored by NASWA, CIDX, and Universal Radio, Inc., starting on 1/7/17 @ 00:00 UTC. and lasting until 00:00 UTC 1/29/17. The contest is open to all North American SWLers and DXers. There is a $5.00 entrance fee with prizes for 1st thru 3rd place, and Contest Participation Certificates avaiable for all who participate. Catching Pirate Stations is one of the 3 parts of the contest.

This was my first Halloween concentrating on Pirate Stations. I was so excited the whole evening. I started around 6:30 until 11:30. I logged a total of 11 different stations. Wow! Thank you so much for making this a Halloween I will remember. I haven't had this much fun on SW for a few years.
