22 Meter Band Beacons / Re: A New Hifer Beacon OH is back on the air

All;

Tom posted an update to his frequency to .....13.556.673 MHz. QRSS10.  I looked for his signal last night without success. I am trying again today and in order to do that I must shut the WM Hifer down.  My outages will be for short duration's while captures are being made. I will be trying both posted frequencies.

RF copied audibly but with fast QSB into EM68es - South Eastern Illinois.  The Argo capture has the exact details.

22 Meter Band Beacons / Hifer beacons RY and EH
« on: December 02, 2017, 1723 UTC »
All;
I shut down the WM Hifer beacon to do some listening this morning on it's antenna. So far I have solid copies on RY and EH which can be seen in the ARGO capture on Dropbox; https://www.dropbox.com/s/521pk9u5k5jxt6m/dec020001.jpg?dl=0

I saw NC briefly but don't have a capture on it yet.  It's kinda weird in that I am using a new KiwiSDR on the beacon antenna and it hears RY and EH just fine. I have my Kenwood on a trap vertical and it only hears NC and EH.   Some kind of magic I guess.

22 Meter Band Beacons / Re: Hifer beacon WM

Bill,  It takes a little over 5 minutes to send the FSKCW ID segment with a 3 second dit time. The CW ID segment is then sent.  Then it's lather, rinse, repeat.....  The letters "WM " are sent 4 times in both segments.

I visit this site on occasion, QRM is getting kinda bad on some of the others so I have been spending more time here.

Thanks for the WM Report today. It's good to learn that it is landing somewhere else besides my property. The beacon transmits QRSS followed by regular CW.  It's amazing that the CW ID gets reported at least equally to the QRSS ID.

I am testing a new antenna on 630m wspr this evening, That band is amazing, but 22m is much more satisfying when a report is received.

Other / unid whistle on 13.554 Mhz 3/25/14 14:00utc

Hello my name is Mike, and while I have been a reader here for a while, this is my first post. I have been a SWL since the 60's, so have heard many different things over the years. However this is a new type of transmission for me.

While having the radio set to capture “hi-Fer” beacons using Argo running on the pc I heard sounds of what I would describe as human whistles. There is a variation in the whistles, but seem to be repeated in patterns, suggesting some type on information is being passed. I have heard this off and on over the past couple months. The signals are weak, generally not budging the s-meter, and had been received in the daylight hours only.

I have searched the forums here, as well as google and other internet places without finding additional information. I hope the group can provide some additional insite.

You can listen to a recording of 13.554 USB,  made on 03/25/2014 at 14:00 utc here
