Bacon, BBQ, Beef, And More / Traeger pellets
« on: April 06, 2020, 0253 UTC »
With Traeger shut down (along with just about everyone else) and watching our store's pallet of wood pellets starting to dwindle, decided to take home an extra bag of Big Game Blend.  Just in case.   I'm guessing charcoal will always be easy to find but I'm not so sure about pellets if production stops for more than a few months?

Amateur Radio / Re: 220 Mhz

The obstacle to 220 when I first got licenced (1991) was that equipment was not as easy to find and when you did it was expensive, which is doubly hard to swallow when you suddenly find out there is no one else on the band!    Now with lots of Chicom radios with 222 capability that might be a game changer?    Our local machine went back on the air after a 20 years hiatus and is getting some fair usage -- and lots of that is from owners of Chicom rigs (guilty as charged here as well).

Bacon, BBQ, Beef, And More / Re: Beef rib finger Meat boneless

It's too late to post a pic of it raw - it's been on the smoker since 9 a.m.   I tried a "finger" just now though figuring four hours should be enough to test and first impression is that it is greasy and bland.

I'm not exactly sure what this is but saw it at the supermarket tonight and picked up a cryopak.  Apparently it is supposed to be super cheap but then again I'm in Canada. Planning on smoking it on my Traeger Pellet Grill. Any tips?   I was thinking of just applying my usual favourite rub and smoking it for about a good six hours.

Listening on Sat 750 on back deck, whip antenna!

Enjoying the music selections.  First time hearing that Kenny Rogers tune.
