HF Beacons / Re: Currently Active Beacons Chat

Since the 3579 beacon KOK seems to be stable I added it to the list at https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,9478.msg27047.html#msg27047

I love that, it's a strong audio on that one for me. Love the interesting choice of frequency. Is it a pirate or just some maritime buoy thing like happens on the 160m band sometimes?

HF Beacons / Re: Beacon "A" 2097 khz
« on: Today at 05:42 »
The A beacon has been quite elusive of late. I am catching a glimpse of it with a very weak signal audible now and then this evening. Was doubting myself as to if I am really hearing it but it just faded up a bit and was for sure there audibly and visible in the waterfall for about three passes before fading out again. 2097.29 KHz 31DEC23 05:27z Airspy HF+ Discovery 60ft SE/NW longwire

I've had the same issue, I just figured it was the propagation from getting closer to maximum but I'm still getting other signals on similar frequency range pretty much the same. When I was hearing it it was usually in the evening when that part of the band started to open up as the sunset but then as it grew deeper into the night the signal would get lower.

Wonder if it switched to solar power or something then the battery died and won't hold charge anymore.

Shortwave Broadcast / Re: Cuba Jammer on 6513
« on: April 09, 2024, 0810 UTC »
Random frequency for Cuba to be jamming but it's on 6513 now (0223 UTC)

The spread spectrum jammy jam jammer masheen has obviously run amuck again, which it's been known to do.

Well hopefully it dies soon too like most of it's Radio Habanana counterparts.

Anyone ever hear one of these on the air when they do roadworks in your area? Basically a Talking House AM Transmitter in the 27 MHz range.

Ah so they finally put a damn antenna jack on the thing. Still better to just wait for the chinese sweatshop they use to leak the non overpriced version with better features. Just like with the previous version and the XHdata 808

Equipment / Re: Crazy big Magnetic Loop Antenna

No point in one for broadcasting since you're transmitting only there's no need to filter out the electric part of the electromagnetic spectrum. A regular small transmitting loop in this size though for a little backyard piracy with the ole 400 watt broadcast transmitter wouldn't be a bad idea though. 45 meters and lower would give decent NVIS coverage over the state by day and the neighboring states by night.

Excuse my ignorance, what does "WARFA" stand for?

We Are Retxxded F'n Azholes.

Mike and I wrote letters to the FCC pleading for assistance / enforcement of W6WBJ and got it.

One week after Crowell was removed from the air, the WARFA people told Mike - we don't need your help anymore, you aren't BLACK, please go away, this is our net.

Wewww some autistic fantasty LARPing you got going on there big boy 10-fo! Don't blow you space cadet hat off now when you try talking to mars on them radios later. CQ CQ 74s

Lunacy, I wouldn't bother with those crazy people on 11 meters...

Who the heck are you going to talk to with nothing but a handheld radio?  It's range is probably 3 or 4 miles FM if you were standing on top of a mountain on a good day.

Ah one of them good ole HAME boys here to chime it with his peter sucking wisdom and busted antenner and million knobs that don't work. CQ CQ 74s and all that bullsheeeeit. 74fdx9 in the 421 zone calling for corntest!

Jesus it was really popping off today. Thank goodness it's easier to get FM handhelds in the USA now that President made the Randy II. My local channel was clear but the splatter was crazy.

Does anyone know who Uncle 29 is? He just kept saying that over and over without talking to anyone and I was catching him from channel 21 to 28.

I used to receive this all the time back before the minimums few years ago but I can't get on any Kiwi remotes near where it's supposed to be either. Granted it's all the lame non-UFO recordings of Gene Scott filtered by his blowhard wife but it was a really unique transmitter location which made it a fun catch and decent propagation test.

I was listening to WWV getting ready for the test sounds and heard so SSB interference a couple kilohertz up and went to check it out on a Kiwi waterfall and found at least 6 signals just above the 10MHz frequency reference signal all in spanish and most overlapping with each other. What a wild night.

Great image. Which software did you use to decode the image? It is very sharp and well synced (no skew).

Thank you :3 I used the Wolphi LLC WeFax software on my android tablet. I can't remember how but I found the .apk directly on their website for free years ago.

2013 UTC S7 stable in DM25 with WWVH faintly heard as well.

(Listen during the 8th minute of the hour and you'll hear different ionospheric test pulses and sounds BTW)

Utility / NMC 8681 USB - 1912 Aug 13 2023 UTC // GOES Image
« on: August 13, 2023, 2010 UTC »
Solid copy on the GOES image segment of the WeFAX broadcast from NMC Point Reyes. Received in grid square DM25 using the PK Loop Hamloop on Sangean ATS-909 original while sitting on curb of church parking lot. Bit of lightning noise from the summer monsoons causing slight static lines in the image but greatly reduced thanks to magloop. That group of clouds seen on the 110 longitude near the top of the image is what's hitting me right now.

Much prefer using shortwave to 1.6GHz
