Broadcast Announcements / Re: BallSmacker On Air - 23 September

Our AM setup is rockbound at 6960 unless we hook up a programmer (Stretchy).

Stretchy's programmer can be a little intimidating, I suppose, though I'm sure that he doesn't think that it is. I think that many or most of his customers haven't tried to change frequency.

If you are having trouble or are not touching it out of fear (and I don't fault you for either of these) and want some help, send me a DM and I might be able to help you. I don't know if he's revised his programmer, his header (the connector), or instructions since 2020 though. I know how to use what I have; I can change frequency at will and I even reverse-engineered his hex files to get close to the intended frequency, though still with a small amount of residual drift (that has always been there and I'm not going to try to fix).

His directions that I saw in 2020 are correct but there are probably a few items that need more detail, e.g., a fuller, more detailed explanation of how to connect the programmer to the transmitter. If anybody cares, I can publish more detailed directions than he has provided.

Yes that's exactly it.

To me, this looked like a multi-carrier data signal (because of the multiple "lines") that just happened to have a musical tone to it, in AM and SSB. I guess that the musical tones I heard were probably really music but the whole thing was so distorted that I couldn't figure out what was going on.

I don't know what would be causing that. I know how to create multi-tone signal but that isn't anything the average hobbyist would do. However, I guess it could be an AM signal with strong modulation at x KHz, x = whatever the spacing between the tones is. Why that would be happening unintentionally is a mystery to me.

Odd that the initial id was "Pee Wee Radio"?

To quote the orange one, "Fake News".

I was listening to this and I couldn't figure out what it was. I convinced myself that it was some sort of data transmission with "musical qualities" and let it go. Are we talking about the same thing?

Not sure what i'm hearing .

I think that is OK because he doesn't know what he's transmitting either, so it's only fair.

BTW, the audio bandwidth is very narrow. It sounded about the same in CW mode as USB.

The automated Brit voice is quite nasal, so yes, I could see that. Dit Dah Dit. Dit Dah Dit.

About as dull as donkey basketball.

I bet that you have not seen the action in the National Donkey Basketball League. You should see the layups!

2350 - ID: "You're tuned to Piss Weak Pig Meat Radio".
They are reading Piggie's comments over the air with an automated voice. I bet they will read this out over the air. You just see.

0000 - ID: "You're tuned to Pig Meat Radio". Then reading my comments about the "National Donkey Basketball League".

0047 - SSTV (I did not decode) then pig squealing.

0010 (or so) - more SSTV, more squealing just before presumed sign off.

0103 - ID: "W H I _" Missed the last letter. (It's Z.) SINPO 34333 on an SDR in Ohio.
0144 (approx) - Presumed off.

432
0046 UTC the "Wanker Song" a Tune from Scottish Radio in the late 80's I believe. I was on the North Sea working those days

...and presumably not so happy back then.

433
... with bad Russian accent as a nice touch.

There. I fixed that for you, MP.  ;D

0045 - Song: "I'm a wanker. I'm a wanker." (BUT NOT THE HAPPY WANKER - ed.)
0048 - SSTV then announcement: "This program is brought to you by massive quantities of vodka."

Off, after an ID loop.

434
S9+10, SINPO 55554 on an SDR in Ohio. My only problem is their drifting and sometimes jumpy (rapid shifts) frequency, hence the Overall = 4.

2352 UTC: Cluck cluck cluck" Op said that tonight it was all Ukrainian music.

Thunderchicken

0030 - "Go Ukraine." after SSTV and patriotic song. Then presumed off the air.

435
2221 - Whispering OM on the mic, with a story about a man who goes to visit "L. Ron Hoover of the First Church of Appliantology". Into Frank Zappa (I believe). SINPO 35344 on an SDR in Ohio.
2226 - "This is The Central Scrutinizer." Some weird story about somebody who learned to speak German with some sort of fanatasy about objects spinning around the room.
2231 - Whispering OM: "This is The Central Scrutinizer. Joe and his date are going back to his apartment." More Frank Zappa, I believe.
2240 - "Cluck, cluck, cluck", followed by Easypal (image below) then SSTV (which I missed). I believe that this is Thunderchicken.

2247 - The Central Scrutinizer continues with the story of Joe, interspersed with Frank Zappa tunes.
2330 - I noticed they moved down to 6919 KHz at some point.
2337 - Off
