Huh? / Re: How to save images in MMSSTV?
« on: August 06, 2022, 0522 UTC »
What do you mean by severe frequency drift? In the receiver or sound card?

The receiver was the W3HFU KiwiSDR (I also tried the Northwest Ireland KiwiSDR and got the same results), my sound card is the Sound Blaster Audigy Rx, the audio source is set to “what u hear” (the program will hear whatever is playing through the computer), and what sound card settings do you need to know?

S9+20 with the K3FEF KiwiSDR. Mode is 10 kHz wide FM. Because of the FM mode every fade causes the signal to go below the noise.

0001 - Music Here. Unfortunately, no ID
0005 - SSTV

Corn Desert Outpost sends that SSTV every broadcast. As ~SIGINT~ said this also sounds like them. I think we have an ID.

edit by Ray Lalleu : that ugly bird face was already used by CDO on 31st of July

marinebroadcasters@hotmail.com is the right one for eQSL

Thank you for the correct email. I have already sent a reception report to that one and never heard from them. I thought I heard wmbrmarinebroadcasters@hotmail.com this time but with the level of QRM there is a high chance I was am wrong.

The address is: whiteriders@wp.pl

Thank you  :D

S7 with the Northwest Ireland KiwiSDR. Much better S9 with the GB3WB KiwiSDR in the UK. Some distortion in the audio. Bad QRM from the station that I noticed at 2039 UTC (I think it was on before this, just weaker).

2114 UTC-Recording of Radio London sign off and talk about Radio London being back on air with a license, sounds like it is from an old program (documentary?)
2116 UTC-Talking about Radio Caroline and other offshore stations (also sounds like from a documentary)

While it was off I could hear the QRMing station and it sounds like an Asian station. No signal on Asian KiwiSDR’s though.

Looks like KFRC 610 AM no longer exists so this is a recording being played.

S9+10 with the Lublin, Poland KiwiSDR. Listening in AM Stereo. Signal is only 6 kHz wide, unusual for AM Stereo.

1951 UTC-Scarface (Push It To The Limit) by Paul Engemann
1954 UTC-Jingle, email address (couldn’t understand due to heavy processing, will listening back to my recording)
1955 UTC-OFF

A weaker station came on on 6300 kHz AM playing music at 1955 UTC after Anthony Radio signed off but it went off at 1956 UTC.

I like the music! Very interesting stuff around 1935 UTC, sounds like old country music in an Eastern European language?

Huh? / Re: How to save images in MMSSTV?

Thank you for the suggestion, but it did not fix the problem. I have now found out that MMSSTV should be calibrated to the sound card as described on this website: https://f6ikyradioamateur.pagesperso-orange.fr/images%20sstv/sstv%20anglais.html
The problem I am having is that it states I should have a slanted straight line and once it has been adjusted it should be a vertical straight line. The line I have is wobbly and I cannot adjust it to be straight. The image below shows what I get when I try to calibrate to WWV.
