0053z Alan Parsons Project 'Games People Play' sounding good on NJ remote, just a weak carrier here unfortunately.  Good bottom end.  Per op, 10 KHz NRSC audio being transmitted.  I've been listening on and off since 0007z with 'Dirty Laundry'.

0057z 38 special 'Caught Up In You'

Thanks for the show!

Got some dance thumpage about S9 here.  Carrier about 75 Hz low FWIW.  Getting some peskie action on LSB.

2350z  Audio suddenly quit, then the song restarted.  Music is somewhere along the lines of ambient house (Runway music).
2351 A familiar voice, then station went QRT...then came back.  OM sounds like Liquid Radio....?
0101z Prodigy 'Smack My Bitch Up'
0137z Getting some deep fades, still there though.
~0145z QRT.

Thanks for the show!

P.S. Does FANCO support C-QUAM? Sure, USB is the manliest of modes, but C-QUAM is glorious.

Not only does it support C-QUAM, it can decode the broadcast in full stereo, even if it is transmitted in mono.

Ah yes, green onions never sounded so good, at least not since a friend and I sorta drifted off into the LSD minefield....

Thats all fine, but CAN IT BLEND?

A little over S9, strong, audio overdriven.  Running some sort of a mashup between 'Honkeytonk Women' and 'Mama Told Me Not To Come'
0606z Twilight Zone theme music.
0607z More music mashups, Steppenwolf's 'Magic Carpet Ride' and another classic rock tune with ride in the lyrics somewhere.
0611z A little Stevie Wonder into the same 'let it ride' track (Bachman Turner Overdrive).
0614z David Bowie 'Lets Dance' (audio pretty thin, not much below 400 Hz).
0617z Twilight zone theme again.
0618z Steve Miller Band 'Jet Airliner'
0620z 'Abracadabra'
0628z Off, then back on with CoolAM style ID 'Captain Morgan Shortwave'
0630z Santana feat. Michelle Branch 'The Game Of Love'
0633z ID, and signoff

Carrier about 6949.583 KHz Here, but its been a while since I've cal'd the RX.

Thanks for the show.

Hmmm...spellcheck anyone?

General Radio Discussion / Re: Decoding HDTV audio
« on: March 25, 2017, 1840 UTC »
The problem with all the HDTV systems I know of is that the audio is encapsulated in a transport stream, in the case of 8VSB (US HDTV) running at close to 20 Mbps.  You have to receive the entire bitstream, and demux the content you want, and at that point, you might as well watch the video PID too.

The other thing to keep in mind is there are very few lowband VHF TV stations.  Most migrated to UHF and a few on highband VHF.  Lowband has trouble with impulse noise which can cause breakup/tiling.
