I can't even begin to imagine what that's like.  Sending positive waves your way!

About 1 S unit over the noise here in the lab.  Good to hear you guys, its been a while!

0006z X...L...R...8 ID  Occasional utility QRM.  The signal is getting stronger as we go.
0010z Same ID followed by a very deep fade.  Struggling to make a recovery.  An ambient reggae-esk piece now with lots of zingers and tones.

these guys have/had a full blown out station and studio making a ton of money from advertising and various donations.

Follow the money.... THAT is what got them busted.

Equipment / Re: Question regarding my first loop antenna
« on: January 15, 2017, 1857 UTC »
The other thing to note is that as you add capacitance, your tuning range will shrink, both due to your tuning capacitor being a smaller fraction of total C, but also the lower frequency.

Your right, red green would have used a lawnmower, a hockey bag, and lots of duct tape.

TOC must have programmed in the wrong feed and no one noticed for a while.  It has happened before.

Why don't you just get a real antenna for FM?  Or better yet, build one?  I'm sure a 40 meter vertical will also receive some FM and vhf signals, as will your 2m/440 antenna, but not well.

The RF Workbench / Re: Someone had Corsair II AM TX experience?

I love the recycled PSU heatsink  ;D

I still prefer high level modulation of the final, but I'm glad you got it running.  Someday when I tire of high power (not real likely) I'll start building rigs like this just for fun.

The RF Workbench / Re: Help with an FM Jammer
« on: December 23, 2016, 1146 UTC »
First and foremost, you need a regulated voltage supplying the oscillator.  At this power level, a dropping resistor and a zener diode of 6V should work.  I would also add a buffer stage and a small piece of wire on the output for an antenna.  These two changes will help a lot to stabilize the oscillator.  Alternatively, you could modulate the oscillator with a sawtooth waveform which would be more annoying to the 'victim'.

Good luck,

General Radio Discussion / Re: 5,000 WATT RADIO STATION FOR SALE

This looks like our man. 960 KHz KCGS owned by Kiefer retirement service, odd.

It would have been hard to find, but there are not many stations close to that point on the coverage map  ;D

They do have night time authority and a translator coming which is a plus.  Small market radio is weird though, sometimes the locals won't support it, no matter what you do.

Huh? / Re: China Prepares for Anti-Satellite Missile Test

And if they blow up all or most of the GPS sats? Good thing we have a backup nav system like LORAN-C. Hahahahahaha... we're so screwed.  Guess people should start learning how to navigate with NDBs. And companies that use GPS for more than just positioning (like timing)... hahahahahaha, we're so screwed.

You mean like cell phone carriers, broadcasters, most of the stock exchange, and a good chunk of our telecommunications system?  Nah, nothing would happen ;)
