Another very faint carrier in the waterfall at 2325z with no audio recovery. Hopefully conditions here will improve later tonight.

About the same as yesterday. Faint carrier in the waterfall at 2316z. No audio recovery, though.

Still on air? Back on air? Either way, I have a faint carrier in the waterfall with intermittent modulation well down in the noise floor at 0151z.

An "ATS-25" touchscreen version recently popped up on eBay and similar. I tossed Thom a line, which he posted here:

Music at 0104z. SINPO 35343. Good modulation. Static crashing seems to be picking up considerably here, but still a decent copy.

Thanks for the broadcast! :)

0047z - Sounds like faint music in the noise floor mixed the occasional pesky.

0052z - Difficult copy, but music modulation heard in the noise floor.

0101z - "Black Magic Woman" by Santana. A slight SNR and/or modulation improvement. SINPO 15442.

The carrier looks closer to 6924.5KHz or so.

Thanks for the broadcast! :)

*Extremely* faint carrier line in the waterfall at 2357z. Probably would easily miss it if not zoomed and specifically looking. No modulation recovery.

You hear that superweak station direct in Florida ?

It is not an easy armchair copy, but yes. Still do at 2347z. Using an Airspy HF+ Discovery and a PA0NHC-style active miniwhip antenna. ECSS USB tuning. Listening via headphones.

Thankfully I have an usually decent noise floor, especially compared to urban locales in Florida, at least when static crashing cooperates. ;)

Pretty much the same as my other Euro loggings tonight....

2314z - Slight carrier and occasional faint music modulation in the noise floor. ECSS tuning. SINPO 12331. Some static crashing and ute activity.

Thanks for the broadcast! :)

2309z - Slight carrier and what sounds like occasional faint music modulation in the noise floor. ECSS tuning. SINPO 12331. Some static crashing and ute activity.

2317z - Music and maybe a station ID overlay? Moderate improvement in modulation to slightly above the noise floor. SINPO 14332. Declined ute activity.

Thanks for the broadcast! :)

2256z - Very faint carrier in the waterfall. Maybe slight occasional modulation well into the noise floor.

2303z - Modulation back into the noise floor.

0015z - Faint music.

Thanks for the broadcast! :)

On a related note, another license-free option many overlook in the USA is the MURS band. VHF with up to a 2-watt limit.

There are nicer MURS radios with lots of various features, but I know the entry-level Retevis RT27V handheld is a quite affordable option. I never bought anything directly from the company site, so YMMV, but right now it is apparently on sale for under $20.

Equipment / Re: Best MWDX antenna?

Might have found the 31' vertical antenna issue without much effort. Went outside to lay the fiberglass vertical section on the ground for the coming tropical storm. A short jumper wire from the antenna wire to the unun pulled rather easy from its junction. So hopefully an easy fix.

BTW, I assume we have turned this in a chat thread by now. ;D
