Well, I figured it out.

Finally caught an ID as Radio Hermon early this morning. Later today I was riding down the road and saw Iglesia Monte Hermon. Coincidence, of course, but they are related, it turns out.

www.radiohermon.com

Part 15 station, apparently, but I can hear them clear across town most days.

Oh yeah, how could I forget about HCJB? Somewhere I have whole collections of their qsl cards. DX Partyline was a great show!

I always like to listen to Radio Rebelde, since hearing it when I was a kid is what got me into shortwave listening in the first place.

Yeah, its definitely local, but its a huge signal. I can get it all over Houston. Problem is, it just occasionally IDs as 1710, as above. None of the programming appears to be original, or even locally produced. Just lots of Spanish language ministry programming.

I guess I have a new project to work on. And at least my Spanish is getting some use.

Excellent signal here in Houston. I had this in my car today as I was driving around the city. Lots of Spanish sermons and religious music. The only ID I ever got was:

"Estás escuchando 1710, la frecuencia con propósito", which is "you're listening to 1710, the frequency with purpose". Google isn't helping me here.

This evening, also back in my car, I heard a program from Radio Transmundial being played.  Scans of their website make no reference to that frequency, but does say that they broadcast in Venezuela. That could be a possibility.

Any ideas as to what this one could be?

Reading this had made for a very Fansome Thanksgiving, indeed. Everyone have a good holiday!

Yeah, but shipping's free...

Not that I've long involved in catching pirates on the bands, but I gotta say Dr. Benway is always the one broadcaster I enjoy listening to the most.

Passable signal here in Houston. Can make out beats through the noise and static crashes.

Homebrew mag loop.

Rfi here has taken a turn for the worse. Originally thought this was still Yawneb, but perhaps not? Signal is just barely there through the noise (about 5 air conditioning units below me).

2:50 good signal into E. Texas, even through less than ideal conditions here. Lots of local rfi is making things difficult at times, but its still a useable.signal. thanks, Wolverine Radio!

Dunno about 3 guys, 1 hammer, but I have seen 2 girls, 1 cup. Don't Google that one either.

Yawneb is Benway backwards. Perhaps the Doctor is up to something new?
