Longwave Loggings / Re: New to longwave

If you have about 100 bucks, and dont feel like building a filter, I have heard good things about these filters from Kiwa Electronics
To clarify, I don't work for this guy, nor do i have one, just passing along stuff I heard about.
Best of luck in radios' basement     -EC
edit-(whoops, looks like its about 140 bucks)
I've had the Kiwa LPF for years - it works great - without it I am overwhelmed by local MW when hunting NDBs - with it, things are quiet as a mouse and NDBs are still plentiful - but they are slowly being decommissioned.

This is terrible news.  Very very sad.
As Dylan said "life is brief".
My condolences to his family & friends.

You may be correct.  I found a YouTube video from 2013 that someone posted - same frequency, same MO.....may even have been the same OM!
Also I found a post by Josh about this same frequency noting it may be the Venezuelan Navy based on mt-milcom blog.

OM with heavy Spanish accent but speaking in English- using NATO identifiers to spell out various & seemingly unrelated words - one obviously was C-O-M-B-U-S-T-I-B-L-E.
After each word a YL answered in English again though heavy Spanish accent.
OM was 555 but YL was 222 at best.
In between words spelled in NATO identifiers, the talk between the OM and the YL was in Spanish.
Stumbled across this one.  Not sure what it was.

Very nice catch.

Bad Al: he monitors the hfu or at least he did in the past - I had been posting loggings of him a few falls back and out of nowhere I got emails to the address I use on hfu and the subject line was regarding his QTH - two emails both with pictures of a large desert like valley in front of a mountain range with a white trailer home in the middle of the pic.
I have no idea where the pics were taken nor who sent them, nor why.

Huh? / Re: Neil Peart, Drummer and Lyricist for Rush, Dies at 67

Very sad indeed......................

A good band!!!!

If you like the sounds of your average sawmill.

Very good drummer - I just could never dig their music - RIP Mr. Peart but you were no Keith Moon.

WEFAX and SSTV / Re: Reception time
« on: January 08, 2020, 1542 UTC »
My two cents:
Anywhere from 5 to about 20 minutes depending on what is being transmitted- a landscape oriented fax from New Orleans (NMG) that covers about from the west coast of Africa to middle of the USA could take 20 minutes start to end.
Hope that helps you.

Very strong in progress at 2210z tune in.
Yoko Ono parody (nice).
Sanjay talks about the Pakistani armed forces - into music.
444 at tune in but 222 by 2220z.
Thanks - I always enjoy your shows.
