Recorder catch:

6925 (rx in USB) SIO 232

First show was weak, but still audible for the most part just above the noise with some fading.

23:58z-00:29z 1st WPON

Audio (complete broadcast): http://archive.org/download/ShortwavePirateRadioCont/Wpon6925Am-usb2358z-0029z06-10_11-12.mp3

Second show came in better (SIO 333) with some fading - dang audicity locked up on me about 15mins into 2nd broadcast, but still got a decent portion of the show.  Missed the third one though :(

00:59z-01:45z 2nd WPON

Received an email from the Op saying he was using a homebrew transmitter putting out a 35 watt carrier - 80 watts peak into a homebrew verticle antenna.

Thanks MD! :)

Fair signal with some fading - could hear a QSO at the end of broadcast, but couldn't make out the other side of the conversation.  Came on with number count, ID & mention of test and repeating the ID and email address a number of times.  Audio sounded good from this end :)

Dang, I already deleted my whole overnight recording from this morning, but I'll check future recordings for that time slot to see what I can hear on my end Chris.

Decent signal with some fading.  Noticed these going through my recording this morning: four short tx’s with the same pattern of dits & dahs.  The first three are spaced ~ 2 mins apart with the fourth ~ 7mins later.

03:49z-04:01z Radio Balaklava CW test

WSKY in 1993 :)

1st QSL was from 6YVOS for their Jerry Garcia tribute show in 1995.

These stations were all heard on a Grundig Satellit 500.

Went back and looked at the log sheet from that night, the UTC times look later than I thought they were, but then again I could have been an hour off.  I should add that these are possibly not the first pirates I ever heard, but the first ones I ever logged.

01-02-93

7415 Mhz

05:10z WSKY
05:25z WMAD
06:10z Voice Of Garbage
06:18z Voice Of The Night with a call in # 713-780-1799

I have written down '(WCYC)?', but no time given; the two 'Voice' stations also had a QSO going at one point IIRC.

6924 AM (rx on 6925 USB) SIO 322

Fair signal with fading - could only make out bits & pieces with being offtuned from tx freq.  If I had to guess by the music it sounds like Radio Free Mars.

01:27z sign on with
01:38z 'Bennie & The Jets' - Elton John
01:27z Off ?

Thanks! :)
