Equipment / Re: Antenna Tuner
« on: November 01, 2013, 2351 UTC »
I use the MFJ SW/MW/LW tuner, Model MFJ-956, You can usually find them cheap on eBay, for $35-$45. I use it for my Kenwood R-1000 and it does a pretty good job. The antenna I use is only 30 feet, so it has it's limits. There is also a MFJ -1046 Passive Preselector and it's AC powered amplified twin MFJ-1048. Just remember when using anything amplified, it also for the most part, amplify the noise as well. I've used both over the years, different models, etc. I prefer the passive, other's swear by the amplified, it's a personal choice -- your mileage may vary. ;D

Thanks for the link Bill F!  Been busy filling up a new 8 gig. flash drive. The programs are priceless. The radionewyork site has more programs than I had before, from the other previous sites I used!

Now I can pontificate Dr. Benway's diatribes over a latte....how cool is that! :D (translate: I can now listen to the shows on my lunch hour again)

General Radio Discussion / Re: South Florida
« on: November 01, 2013, 1542 UTC »
Hi eduhat! Welcome to the HFU board! Yes, there are few listeners from the Florida region. When you look at the various postings, you will find their QTH sometimes listed ( sometime not an exact city). Not all posters use the Pirate Shortwave section, some specialize with Utilities, Spy, Numbers, etc., so be sure to check all sections. Best... RCCI

RE: 6925 USB / With one OP sliding into their programming,  complimenting the previous program and their OP, for example: from Renegade Radio nito Twangy Radio it was seemless and organized to say the least.
