North American Shortwave Pirate / Someone on 6925U
« on: April 18, 2012, 0424 UTC »
Been listening here for a half hour or so. Not teribly strong on a noisy band but just heard some Hendrix then into an OM giving ID several times with what sounded like "test" but I could be wrong.

Strong S-5 to S-7 with some QRN. Typical fine audio and entertaining production. Thanks!!!

Can hear a carrier and some voice but not strong. I posted here before I heard an I.D.

Just found it and posted here. Playing rock dance music. Strong S-7 but crappy band conditions with fades and noise.

Brutal signal here, Shortwave Broadcast quality. Posted here before I listened for an ID.

Just popped out of the noise into a good signal. There was an ID that I missed, then a commercial for a Wah-Wah pedal.
S-3 over S-1 noise, nice audio for SSB. 0335UTC
***Update - gone by the time I returned from posting this.

North American Shortwave Pirate / Somebody loud and strong on 6940AM
« on: February 24, 2012, 0318 UTC »
Just turned rig on, heard instrumental (drum?) music and OM announcer "This is Radio ___".
Audio tone too low, I couldn't copy it. Signal is STRONG S-5. I'll update...

Just turned rig on; there's an OM announcer playing music. Didn't listen long enough yet for an I.D., I posted here first. Signal about S-3 over S-1 noise in North Canada.
***UPDATE*** Off at 0630UTC, then what sounds like pescadores on freq at about 0635UTC.

North American Shortwave Pirate / Heads up, somebody is on 6930
« on: January 14, 2012, 0016 UTC »
Just turned on rig so no ID yet but I'm hearing OM voice and music on 6930. Weak, about S-1 with QSB over S-0 noise but pretty good copy.

North American Shortwave Pirate / Someone starting on 6.940AM

Strange signal. Sounds like a siren, with morse code over top of it. LOUD S-7 signal in northern Canada. I'll update as I can.
***UPDATE!!!***  There's a weaker station UNDER it! Use SSB and tune up or down slowly but listen carefully, it's there. Could this be a jammer?
***UPDATE #2*** The jammer is right on 6.940, if you tune AM 6.942 or 6.938 you can hear the slightly wider signal being jammed. Occasional music and male announcer. Of course as soon as one hears the word jammer one could suspect the Bunneh bunch, but it can't possible be them, you can actually hear THIS transmitter.

Got someone just signing on. Weak here but freq and strong modulation suggest Northern Relay Service.
*** Update- Yup, got clear OM voice and CW ID for NRS.

I have a station on 6930. Real weak here, but I can hear music being played. Kind of early, so hopefully it'll build with time. I'll update if possible.

Hearing a definite station, but not strong enough for solid copy. I would GUESS NRS but they are generally stronger and earlier here so I dunno.
***Update*** I now have OM on 6930USB but it could be fishermen. Can't tell, I just hear male voice talking. Sounds more like a monolog then a QSO, though.

Seemed to just come on. It took me a while to tune them in well. Then I found I could hear them better on LSB then USB. Had some music, then OM gave several IS's that sounded like Turtle Head Radio.
About S-5 over noise od S-3 into north Canada. Great to hear a new one!
***Update!*** Much stronger now, several songs (some, uh, a little racy) about Christmas.
