Got them BLASTING into north Canada. True armchair copy. No ID or even voice yet, just instrumental music.
***UPDATE*** Got strong, clear OM ID as Northern Relay Service. Wall of VooDoo song "Mexican Radio". Frankly, I wish I was in Tijuana, eating barbequed iguana.

I don't know if the recording is indexed to the time or not but the CW occurred at about 10 minutes after the hour, according to my notes. Perhaps a minute or two sooner.

I can't recall. Popular Communications had an article on it. It was in a Chev Suburban. They had a nitrous injected 454 driving 5 locomotive generators to power it.

You can work guys right down to about 26.000, and right up to the ham band at 28.000. From about 26.000 to about 26.500 it's SSB and generally pretty civilized. From about 26.500 to ch.01 on 26.965 it's generally AM and can be pretty embarrassing. The CB HF band starts at ch.40 on 27.405 and can have some classy operators but that's rare.
I got started DXing CB in the mid 1970's. Worked a TON of great DX on the 23 normal channels, AM, four watts. People were great. I still have several hundred QSL's and letters from then. By the mid '80's CB had gotten pretty trashy. You had to get WAY off the beaten path to work good ops. I remember there was a call channel on 26.200. I used to hang out there and work the world. I remember some guys had some BIG amps. A couple thousand watts was common. The biggest I ever heard of for a fact (and NOT urban legend) was 80kw. Yes, eighty THOUSAND watts. I imagine there were bigger ones out there.
Then I got my ham ticket. It's a cool hobby, and I like it, but it's no better then what I call "the glory days" of CBing in the '70's.

But did anyone else hear the station under it? If the "siren" was weak or not heard at all in parts of the US then the SW station under it should have been heard somewhere other then here. Also, there was CW with the "siren" at the beginning. Not sure what transmission it was part of. It was well sent, probably 15 or 20 seconds, at least 10wpm.

Strange signal. Sounds like a siren, with morse code over top of it. LOUD S-7 signal in northern Canada. I'll update as I can.
***UPDATE!!!***  There's a weaker station UNDER it! Use SSB and tune up or down slowly but listen carefully, it's there. Could this be a jammer?
***UPDATE #2*** The jammer is right on 6.940, if you tune AM 6.942 or 6.938 you can hear the slightly wider signal being jammed. Occasional music and male announcer. Of course as soon as one hears the word jammer one could suspect the Bunneh bunch, but it can't possible be them, you can actually hear THIS transmitter.

Got someone just signing on. Weak here but freq and strong modulation suggest Northern Relay Service.
*** Update- Yup, got clear OM voice and CW ID for NRS.

Nice clear, but weak signal into northern Canada this afternoon. Music, with clear I.D. of "... Radio (?) shortwave". Hopefully the signal will build stronger before they shut down. Great to hear a famous pirate!

I have a station on 6930. Real weak here, but I can hear music being played. Kind of early, so hopefully it'll build with time. I'll update if possible.

Killer big signal into far northern Canada. Deep fades, then back to armchair copy. They GOTTA change their ID though. Even though I KNOW it says "Wolverine Radio", it still doesn't sound like that is what he is saying. Not enough sylables.
Great to hear you though. Nice coverage, judging by the other posts.

Hearing a definite station, but not strong enough for solid copy. I would GUESS NRS but they are generally stronger and earlier here so I dunno.
***Update*** I now have OM on 6930USB but it could be fishermen. Can't tell, I just hear male voice talking. Sounds more like a monolog then a QSO, though.

Seemed to just come on. It took me a while to tune them in well. Then I found I could hear them better on LSB then USB. Had some music, then OM gave several IS's that sounded like Turtle Head Radio.
About S-5 over noise od S-3 into north Canada. Great to hear a new one!
***Update!*** Much stronger now, several songs (some, uh, a little racy) about Christmas.
